Tbh Chile was still utterly shit economically under Pinochet, I'm not defending Allende but Pinochet wasn't as great as some of you guys think he was.

Banks were securitizing subprime loans, including loans given to niggers, spics and assorted poor who couldn't pay them once the rates rose. People defaulted, the loans soured, the securities became worthless.

Also that chart lies, Pinochets rule ended in 1990 and as you can see a lot of the economic growth occurred after his presidency.
