The Dales are great, probably the most picturesque part of Yorkshire. With the north York moors you get the coast, and there's lots of woodlands and biking trails.

I spent a few years in Scarborough & I'd walk to Whitby along the coastal path, staying in the hostel, which is right next to the Whitby abbey ruins.

Harrogate & York would be the best places to stay if you're driving to places, Leeds is much better than Bradford, but I always seen dozens of burqas when I have to go in, it's mainly retail shops. The Royal Armouries is a decent afternoon though.

If you ever are over in Ireland then I'd basically recommend the West Coast. Avoid Dublin if you can - I say that as a Dub.

Well you can have gaelic surnames and be mostly anglo. The lowlanders of scotland were mostly anglo and that is were the prods come from mostly. So as they mix after the plantation they are all more anglo than gaels but you do have a point.
