It’s 5am and the the world is empty.
Fog making halos of porch lights and damp streets.
The pounding rhythm of Zeplin over my stereo
Over and Over and Over again
If it keeps on raining, the levee's gonna break
Trump is the new president.
It’s not sinking in.
I’d stayed up late watching the returns
Watching 538 prediction models, twitter feeds.
Frantically refreshing the websites of election offices in Philadelphia and Detroit until finally
numb
I’d gone to bed.
Hoping that I wouldn’t wake into the world I was expecting.
But here we are.
Now the madman, who promised to remake the world, would get his chance
He didn’t tell you he would have to break the world
Your votes had been protest votes.
You didn’t expect him to win any more than I.
But here we are.
Never admit you were conned or cheated.
You were in on it from the start.
It’s not sinking in.
I’ve seen people take that ride all the way to the bottom.
Normally, I would be happy to let them.
But, they are currently in charge of the country.
Here we are.
Those that gloat, seem sad about it.
(At least in person. Everyone gloats like a supervillain online)

Have no idea how hard it actually is,

By the insanity of the world around them
They have mistakenly attributed this to their intelligence

Now though there is no one to blame, they will try
The fate of the world rests in the hands of amateurs who
Have no idea the scale of the game
But here we are
For every armchair quarterback and internet general
The cuck has won
