Smoking tobacco is demonized because it is HEAVILY TAXED. Every time (((they))) wanna up the taxes they bring up the subject of smoking and how it kills not only the smoker but the people around it too. The sole purpose of this is to turn the average citizen against smokers, and in turn to pass new tax laws with no complaints from below. It's exactly how they demonize climate change to tax carbon emissions.

Regarding the health risks, even if we disregard the whole cancer or long-term harm issues, there are some issues that smoking creates that are irrefutable:

>having to empty your lungs each morning
>can't function without consuming a substance
>you smell like a fucking ashtray
>you are an addict

I used to smoke for 5 years, quit 3 months ago. The physical withdrawal symptoms are comparable to heroin, but they subside after 3 days and completely go away after 2-3 weeks. The reason so many people are defending tobacco is because they've probably tried to quit, they saw how bad it is the first couple of days and decided that it's easier to do mental gymnastics and defend this terrible habit then actually quit.

The only evidence you will be able to find to backup your absurd claim will be drawn from epidemiological (soft science) studies and the rationale will only be stolen from the studies preface (theoretical ramblings with no hard science to back them up).

It has been linked to a lot of carcinomas (not counting other auto-immune diseases or immune-related diseases) thus a smoker is a potential burden on society if they get sick because of their habit (you can't work when you bronchoalveolar carcinoma etc.).
