People who graduate with debt they can't pay off are idiots who fucked themselves. Sure, it's pretty messed up that the government profits off student loans, but if you take them, you better know that you're going into a career which allows you to pay it off.

Point is, take responsibility for your actions you mongs

Or better yet just say you're a gay black lesbian on your application and get mountains of money

Degrees are supposed to be an investment. Not in the liberal "investment in yourself :33333" sense, in the actual finanical investment sense (you know the actual definition).
If you have a degree that's worth anything, the debt is not a problem.
If the debt is a problem for you, then you shouldn't have gotten your retarded "degree" in the first place.

It's really fucking simple guys. If you are one of those retards complaining about study debt or blaming (society for not letting you know it was a bad thing to do) you are literally just a dumb person.

The FIRST thing I did when chosing a degree was filtering everything out that wasn't a good investment by looking at unemployment rates of different majors, average and median wages etc.. Only THEN I started to look at what amongst the remaining possibilites was something I could see myself doing on a day-to-day basis.

If you're the type of person that didn't look up the numbers and did the actual calculations: YOU ARE AN IDIOT and have no business even thinking about going to a university in the first place.

I have waaaay more respect for people who know their limits and strengths and go for a specific trade that actually has a future, than delusional commie mongoloids like yourself.
>>
>>130403231
I'm retarded because you don't get a job with a philosophy degree. I signed up for it and then 3 years in I finally asked my counselor, "hey wait a minute, what kind of job do I even get with this"

"uhhh well you can go to law school or something after idk"

"oh ok"

People always say that you shouldn't go to college just to get a job, but when it costs thousands of dollars I think that's pretty retarded to say. If I want to learn just for the sake of learning I can read at the library and internet for free

20k, probably 10k more incoming.
Major health issues right after starting college, years ago. I'm fucked. Should have given up right away, but I figured my Dr would fix me up and I'd manage to get my shit together, well neither of us did.
20k in debt, no diagnosis, trying new treatments, new medication, struggling to get my education together, won't be done anytime soon, still probably have to sink 10k more in it, but it's way too late to go back.

Zero debt. Ruined my back and several other joints in the infantry, but at least I was able to pay for school without loans.

Of course I don't have a job that uses my degree, so that's kind of a kick in the balls.

Not too fucked but enough to be cautious.

Home could sell for 400 right now. Remaining mortgage of 160
Own my car outright
Have personal debt in the form of a line of credit at 15k, paying that off as aggressively as I can.
Make around 1400/wk so it's not too terrible. Saving as much as I can to gtfo toronto next year as all white people should.

It is pretty messed up that supposedly public colleges here profit off the same student loans. They keep the tuition just high enough to milk the maximum number of students for the maximum govt loan money.

People talk about the dim students, the idiotic govt loans, and wallstreet. It is time we look at the colleges/proffs themselves.

>>130404073
Excuses.

I had to go to uni from my parents too and at that moment in my life I liked nothing more than drawing and making Gamemaker/Flash videogames. Yet at no point would I have ever been so retarded as to go for something as pointless as an art-"""degree""", animation, graphic design or some crap like "video game design" or something . That would clearly be a waste of money so I never considered it as a viable option in the first place.

It's basically like saying: "ok, so I want to work in a starbucks all my life (or -best case scenario- work ridiculous hours for pennies and worrying about paying to bills all my life), but I want to maximize the pleasure I have in the few years before that happens".

As a Gadsden flag you shouldn't shove away personal responsibility in favor of blaming external factors like that.

I graduated from a state college with 0 debt because I'm not a retard or a pussy. I worked through college and also got small family loans, either from my grandparents, my mom helping pay, or from my brother (I loaned to him sometimes too).

This.

I owe some money on the house, thats about it. Mid 30s/no college living the skilled trade meme. I have no debts, a few cars a respectable house and a family...In a one income home.

Skilled trades are memes by the way. An apprenticeship pays you WELL to get an education, than the trade pays you even better.

If I had to cash out right now I am ahead, so I am comfy AF and don't mind waiting the last 10 years out to pay off the house.

>why the fuck do you people need student loans
>>
never accumulated any real debt getting my degree without any family assistance after moving out at the age of 17 on my own

when I hear about kids whining and complaining about their debt I hold no sympathy. Most of the kids that get student debt seem to have no understanding of finances, they waste and throw money away "because I'm going into debt anyways". I've seen countless students just wasting money away like using it to buy ricer gaming laptops and retarded shit like that or going out to clubs and popping bottles every weekend. No wonder they end up in debt.

> To be fair, they are people who since childhood were told by every adult they trust that they MUST go to college.

And industry reinforces that point.

Several years back I worked at fairly large family owned design and machining company that was bought out by Mega Corp Inc and I was talking to the guy who was the assistant scheduling/crib/shipping manager who had worked his way up thru the company over almost 20 years from the prep dept into machining and on to the front office.

When his boss was moved to another position under new management, he figured he’d take over the department but the company told that wasn’t going to happen, as he didn’t have a piece of paper with “management degree” on it, so they hired some wet-behind-the-ears 21 year old fresh out of college with literally no work experience who didn’t even know WTF an end-mill was, and made him his boss….

Here is the real problem: Smart people do dumb shit without thinking. Most go into college for two years wandering aimlessly through life. Everyone thinks they are the main character of a romantic comedy and success will fall out of the sky into their lap. When the two years pass and they finally need to choose a direction, they often pick something that is either easy or has some use in a job-field, but is not intensive. Meanwhile they are still waiting for that success to fall out of the sky. Where is it? The two years pass again and they have a degree which is either not very applicable or useless. The student goes another year tentatively searching for a job, finding little because they were waiting for life to hand them happiness. Finally they wake up and get their shit together.

It was me. It was my friends. It was most people I know. Most people that go through the motions are grown children that were never taught that they need to do something or life will beat them down and tear their soul apart. I lost a few years of my life doing that stupid shit, and I don't think it's simple stupidity but additionally unwarranted sense of importance. It's easy to leave it at stupid, but the problem lies mainly at the heart of this notion that we are all perfect and if we just wait everything will drop into place perfectly.

>7 years

Fucking hell, that is 3 years longer than indentured servitude used to be in America. Plus once those 4 years were over you were given a parcel of land and a solid footing in the world. With university, you pay them for a ticket to do a job where you learn most of the shit on the job AND you produce academic works to which they hold rights to. Then after you wasted 3 years you are left on your own with that piece of paper.

In Australia it's even worse because Australian businesses don't even like Australian graduates. They will gladly pick up three Indians who need to be taught how to wipe their arse, little own how to be productive. If you go overseas with an aussie degree, businesses start sucking your dick because they know we work our arses off and think outside the box.

It's probably easier to get a job in Australia as an Australian by renouncing citizenship then immigrating into the country again.

California State College's are like $2.6k a semester (when I attended 5 years ago).

So it was around 5k per year to go to a 4 year college.. I transfered from a CC where it was like $500/year.

Add on books that you -actually- need, a few hundred per semester.

All in all I spent probably 15k over the course of 5 years.

Boo fucking hoo.

Yeah I COULD have stayed on campus and paid 10k extra a year to live in a jail sized dorm, but I passed.

So tell me again why Im not 50k in debt like all these other students?
>>
>>130424415
You probably didn't blow all your money partying (AKA the reason why people take out such large loans).

>my fiancee makes around 50k

yeah anon i fell for the STEM meme too and it hurts so good

I've got £30k, but I don't give a shit, because it's not real debt. IT'S PAID BACK AS A GRADUATE TAX.

You get all these fucking lefties who say "THESE HIGH FEES ARE PUTTING OFF WORKING CLASS PEOPLE FROM GOING TO UNIVERSITY"

THAT'S UTTER BOLLOCKS. YOU DON'T PAY A SINGLE FUCKING PENNY UP FRONT.

IN BRITAIN, YOU ARE GIVEN ALL THE MONEY TO GO TO UNIVERSITY BY THE FUCKING GOVERNMENT. THEN YOU PAY IT BACK, AT A VERY VERY VERY LOW RATE, WHEN YOU'RE EARNING GOOD MONEY. AND IF YOU STOP EARNING GOOD MONEY, THEN YOU STOP PAYING IT BACK! (for me I only pay it when I'm earning above £15k, but current students have it even better, because it's £21k for them).

Leftists are fucking idiots. It is not fair to expect taxpayers to pay for students' three year drinking holidays, doing "surf studies" or "women's studies" or "international tribal american studies, joint honours with interpretative dance".

THE ONLY FAIR WAY TO FUND UNIVERSITY IS IF THOSE WHO WANT TO GO TO UNIVERSITY ARE EXPECTED TO FUND IT ONCE THEY'VE GRADUATED. IT'S ABOUT PERSONAL FUCKING RESPONSIBILITY. WORKING CLASS TAXPAYERS, IN VOCATIONAL JOBS, SHOULD NOT BE EXPECTED TO FOOT THE BILL FOR MIDDLE CLASS DRINKING HOLIDAYS.

Thank. You. Sir.

And I thought I was the only one pointing this out.

Oh and if I'm not mistaken the debt is literally forgiven when you're something like 50 years old or 25 years after you've graduated.

If you literally go to uni on a jolly-up for 3 years and work a pleb-tier job for the rest of your life you'll have effortlessly done the taxpayer out of about £30k. Possibly more.
>>

>In the US Student loans is the only loan type that doesnt go away if you file bankruptcy.

>Schools are constantly increasing tuition rates
>I graduated college this spring and for the 4 years i was at my no-name state college they increased tuition by 15%
>literally even with a STEM degree in Biochem my only job options were take an underpaid research assistant job, pray for a job in the industry, got to medical school, or get my PhD and be underpaid in academia.

I chose medical school because at least as a doctor I will always be paid well and have a job.

No it isn't. Not anywhere in the US. I live in commiefornia and it's 46/unit with full time students taking 12-16 units a semester.
Even with books it is nowhere near 10k/year for a community college.

0, maintain a high GPA in a field that actually pays for itself and has job prospects. Intern/work in the summer, apply for scholarships and grants like its a job. Do your generals at a CC, never live on campus.

No, we're making college for the people smart enough to get a degree that's actually relevant to in the professional world.

That kid with dreams of being first in the family needs to be smart enough to get an actual degree or he will be taken for a ride as the university happily obliges his need for an ego by offering a degree in some made up social ''''science'''' where he gets graded for parroting a 120k/year professor's Marxist opinions.

For only 80k debt we'll give you the degree that prepares you for a lifetime of debt by teaching you that it's capitalism's fault you're a indebted failure of a barista with a gender studies degree!

>and half those kids majored in "womens studies" or "lesbian puppetry" and then cry when they are up to their eyeballs in debt and cant pay it off bc they cant find a job.

No, even people with engineering degrees are having a tough time out there. More than 30% of engineering degree holders are working jobs that don't require a college degree.

The entire college degree scam is on the verge of collapse.

Most science degrees are worth a bag of dicks unless you have at least a master's degree. Even if you get a phd in physics, what are you going to do with your education? Most likely you'll work in the financial sector because that's basically the entirety of the economy right now - speculating on financial assets.
