I was a resident adviser. We had two exchange programs that brought foreign exchange students to our university.

One, god help us, was a program to exchange students with the University of Delhi. It was a three month exchange where they would come live among the Americans, take some classes, then go back. My third year as an RA I got three Indian students. They were each placed in a suite with three American students to "maximize exposure". I say that because the real reason is Indian students can't live with other Indian students. Even seeing each other in the hall is too much. They will throw chairs at each other if another student scores better on a test. Cheating is rampant. Our campus police have very clear instructions to not arrest them for anything. They only coach them in acceptable behaviors and send them to time out in their rooms.

On the first fucking day a group of three white students came up to me. The general gist of it was they didn't want to the Indian fellow in their fucking room anymore.

"Why?" I can hear you asking. "Why didn't they want to live with an exchange student?"

Well because he shit in the shower. He shit in the shower, clogged it, and then when the American students yelled at him he pissed on their bedsheets. Whipped his dick out right there and peed on their bedding.

As a third year RA this wasn't surprising to me. It was the second time it had happened to me and it happens multiple times every year. But I had to look the white students in the eyes and tell them that I couldn't move the kid.

I couldn't help them because I am white. And they are white. And even trying to do something is racist of all of us. My supervisors would only yell at me. If I could go back in time and change one moment in my life it would be that one. I would be stronger against The Browning.
