In many cases they are proven right, as more direct democracies rapidly decay into socialist collapse with ubergibs.

The solution isn't in the government, it's in the people. Fix the people, and you will never have broken people in your government.

Balance is the maintenance of an unstable state. Collapse is a natural state. A collapsed system benefits no one, while a balanced system benefits many, but not all.

If you want balance, collapse is unlikely to achieve what you are after.
