Its a term made by the alt-right to differenciate those people from them back when those people called themselves alt-right when they didnt know what that word actually meant.

It's basically people who are too stupid or unpalatable to get into mainstream conservatism. They usually hate mainstream conservatism for very shallow and undefined reasons. It's alternative news site, who are usually very biased that can't really be trusted.

To answer your question, OP, Alt-lite refers to people who are moderately redpilled about less difficult topics that pertain to the Alt-Right. An alt-llighter would be happy to debunk feminism and all the absurd gender politics, and would understand the need for things like a halt on illegal immigration, for example. However, the Alt-Lite refuses to touch tougher topics like race realism and the JQ because they are afraid of being perceived by normies as "le evil racist", or "Nazi". That is why the alt-right is so often frustrated with the alt-lit. The alt-lite prioritizes their appearance over truth, and parrot simple statements about third wave feminism and illegal immigration being awful because it sells more t-shirts.
