This is it. For one, it depends on the state as to whether you are required to disclose that you're carrying. No idea if that was the case here, but once you decide to tell an officer you are armed then your contribution is finished. You let the officer instruct you on how to follow up from there.

You have to choose one. The cop is a trained and paid professional. That means being held to professional standards of conduct. If he failed in that, then the acquittal was wrong.
