It's not just the Democrats it is THE FOURTH BRANCH a.k.a tenured politicians, a.k.a. the political elite, those who play politics solely for the love of the game.

Democrats have been around a lot longer then what we today would call the GOP. Republicans today are actually a coalition of several conservative movements. Democrats however are a long continuous and evolving group. They've learned to adapt, to change with the times, but to keep central characteristics.

Democrats give birth to most of the Fourth Branch. All politicians of the Forth Branch want the same thing, to have a strong centralized government. They want that because a strong centralized government means influence and power for themselves. To be elite, revered like tyrants, is the absolute goal for them.

This motive is behind every left, liberal, and progressive politicians. They want the people to believe that they, the elite politicians, are the only ones that can provide the freedoms, the rights, the liberties people desire. They want all minorities, all those marginalized, to believe that the only way they can get a fair shake is if they vote them into absolute power. That's the key, "absolute power". They don't want you to vote that power to anyone else. They don't want checks and balances that inhibit their power, those are for the other guy.

So, the forth branch will play to our emotions and give you just enough for us to believe that they and ONLY they can give us what we want. It's what LBJ meant when he said "give them just a taste". They believe that only themselves can make the world better, just and right. They believe that they have a right to become tyrants, and that it would be for your own good, for the good of eveyone.
