The space meme is a toxic fantasy that lets people play fast and lose with our own vast and beautiful Earth because we can dream about going to the stars.

>Space is not romantic, it's a hellhole of muscle decay, bowel problems and incontinence.
>The only planets we know about besides Earth are literally different kinds of hell. There's no reason to want to go there.
>We are earthlings and we belong on Earth. If you would rather live on mars you aren't human. Mars humans would devolve into lower hellish organisms because of the total shit conditions.

Space dorks can go to hell. Fucking betas want their lives to be like science fiction.

>>
>>130176618
Fuck off, Mohammed. Just because you won't know which direction to pray in space doesn't mean the rest of us can't go.
>>
>>130176618
Staying on earth forever is putting all the eggs in one basket. Just wait for gamma blast. Besides. Expansion is one of primal life's imperatives.
>>
Space is the logical extension of the white conqueror/explorer instinct that made us great, and the fact that we could be wiped out by an asteroid is concerning. It is a survival strategy to seek another home, although space science clearly does have a beta leftist problem.
There are actually hundreds (I think) of planets with the conditions to be earth-like that scientists have found. The problem is the immense distance and the uncertainty.

>>130177353
Too bad that you aren't allowed to create countries in space, they would literally fall under the one world government for space
>>
>>130177326
In this case the basket is part of the egg. You can't even talk about primal life without talking about earth.

There's no whitetopia without nature. The place of the superior man is in nature. The day we live in an artificial environment created by some faggot nu-male art major that splits his time between making doodles and talking about how sick the latest GoT episode was is the day life loses it's meaning. It's Earth or nothing, Earth is ours and we are Earth's.

Ironically you did have people actually saying this. It was argued that Europeans were unsuited to foreign climes and that since dealing with foreigners led to disease and the temptations of miscegenation that empire was just a bad idea even if it did create wealth.

You even have the same thing going on now. Some stormcucks purity spiral so extremely that any white man outside of Europe is a race-traitor or cuck by definition even if he doesn't race mix or even lives in an all-white community.

First off sci fi can be true read Jules Verne and other literature from the 1800's they had submarines one hundred years before they were invented. So we might be able to go to space one day. Also 40k is bad it had at least two separate catastrophes happen to humans.
>>
>>130184690
When they sailed to the new world, a ship was the height of their technology, and it took months to cross.
Now, spaceships are the height of our technology and it would take months to get to Mars.

I disagree. Nature is what gives us humanity. Until we discover nature in space there's no reason to go there again. We already conquered everything we could, the bleakness of space and inhospitability of the planets is God's way of telling us to turn our focus back on our home.

I'm not sure a colony, even a one-way trip colony, would survive long without being constantly blasted by radiation from the lack of a substantial atmosphere and dealing with all the fun side-effects of that.

If we want create some kind of extraterestial colonies, do we need planets at all? Woudlnt it be better to just drill some asteroid empty and spin it to provide artificl gravitation?

Look at mars:

- Doesnt have magnetic field, you have hide underground
- Atmosphere is parody of earth atmosphere but it still managers to fuck up machinery. Sand gets inside everything
- Weak gravity woudl probably fuck our bodies up. It woudl also be deadly to fetuses. There is no known method of providing artifical gravity when you are already on surface of planet
- Gravity means you still have to waste fuel to get off planet. You also need heatshields.

Emptied asteroid:

- Rocks provide protection against radiation
- No atmosphee that fucks shit up. No need to waste fuel to get of asteroid. No need for heatshields
- You can have as much gravity as you need

Only plus with mars is that you can use its atmosphere and water to syntesize fuel (look up mars direct plan for mars mission) or produce air. But from the other hand asteroids have various minerals deposits too.

I think it'd be interesting to have Mars, Phobos and Deimos colonized for the reasons you stated, only issue would be getting them to spin, as well as excavating them.
Using an asteroid otherwise would be a lot more effort than just hiding underground on Mars. First you have to find one, move it into a not-shit location, and then make sure nothing else smashes into it for the duration of its existence.

Couldn't you make gravity on the moon or Mars by building your cities underneath a metal base that has spinning components underneath it? That way inside the cities where there is a connection to the metal plate that allows earth level gravity, but if you leave the city you would be in lower gravity.

There is one problem as far as I know, rotational pseudo-gravity may not be an option for large amount of people if the cylinder gets massive - we might not have materials durable enough not to fall apart at higher speed. Additionally, Earth isn't actually lacking space for people, it's just that we're wasteful and harmful to nature. "Outsourcing" much of industry to space would switch Earth's purpose to provide housin and food for people. Arguably services too, but they'd be mostly local.

Could you explain how? I mean, if it was vertical, we'd part of the time experiencing no gravity, part of the time - double. If it was horizontal rotation, we'd have... Weird, diamond-shaped surfaces. I don't think it would be any kind of practical.
If we could magically manipulate gravity, we'd be better off simply creating artificial gravity in space (not to mention that such abilities would probably lead to FTL and they also are pretty impossible, according to our current knowledge).

>The way to build tall cheaply is buildings with some kind of slope.
a slope, not a curve. concave curves are structurally weak and create a lot of dead space within rooms where furniture cannot be laid effectively. slopes are fine, and are in fact quite good for getting sun to the streets below (some cities actually have ordinances that limit the footprint of buildings relative to their height for this reason) but whats best is a series of vertical walls that step inward as the building climbs in height, since it maximizes available usable space while still forming what is essentially a nice stronk pyramid

That's because companies like that have very good PR internal/external agencies. You don't really hear too much about the sea exploration that's going on by private companies down in Antarctica (although some are serving joint-contracts with various states).
I personally would also like to know about hidden resources/organisms in the ocean, but there's just not a big public gathering for it, it's more along the lines of "Oh cool they found another transparent glowing balloon in some dark water somewhere, whatever".
As far as resources go, it would be more of a public outcry about what the effect on the environment would be due to harvesting them. And, of course, companies are looking for other resources down there, but why share what you find? Don't you want to keep your shiny little hoard of gems a secret from competitors?

This is very easy to debunk. These triangles work on paper but do NOT work in real life due to perpsective and the vanishing point.

Go to the ocean and find some clouds that appear to be close to the horizon. Are they actually almost touching the ocean water? No, of course not, they just appear that way due to pespective and the vanishing point.

You can't use angles to determine the actual elevation of very distant objects!

The sun and other celestial objects dont' actually sink and lower their angle! They only appear to due so due to celestial perspective! Debunked!

>>130201187
Fusion pulse engines can carry city-sized craft up to 10% of lightspeed, meaning they can hop from star to star, generation to generation, colonizing rocky Mars-like planets wherever they end up. Look at it this way: Nothing ever moved FTL in the first place. The universe is so vast because a lot of objects have been flying away from each other for a long time, a lot slower than the speed of light.
>>
>>130201393
That's not how science works bucko. FTL doesn't "stretch" physics. FTL breaks physics because if it existed then causality would cease to be a constant, and we'd have long ago noticed the ramifications of that.

We actually have the tech to colonize mars RIGHT NOW, and could start building a self-sufficient colony there within 2 years.

The colony would rely on shipments of water and some raw materials for 5 years, but after that, it would be self-sufficient, if harsh.

Mars is not a terrible hellhole.
The only barriers to colonization are the lack of atmosphere and radiation. The solutions to these are to build habitats. But habitats cost money.

Luckily, Mars is dotted with inert magma tubes that can be converted into habitats for very little investment.

A space elevator requires a tensile strength of 50 gigapascals.

A PERFECT *perfect* 100% aligned at every single atom carbon nanotube would have a tensile strength of 100 gigapascals.

Every carbon nanotube actually made to date has been closer to 1 gigapascal because you can't make every fucking atom obey you and even if you could they're not going to stay put when you're actually using the thing as a tool

And even these flawed nanotubes, no one has yet made one more than half a meter in length, which is a mere 34,999,999.5 meters shorter than it needs to be.

https://www.fourmilab.ch/cship/timedial.html

time dilation isn't significant until you hit 50% of light speed. It's about 15%.
This means that a year long journey at 50% C would be 1 year and about 2.5 months.

Time dilation doesn't become super weird until you hit 90% of C, where 1 year of travel becomes 2 years 4 months.

As you pass 99%, it becomes ridiculous.
At 99.9999% of the speed of light, almost two years pass for every ship's day.

95-97% of C is the sweet spots. There, you can justify the time dilation vs the time saved and the energy expenditure of fractional C travel.

That's statistically untrue, the 20th and 21st centuries have been defined by ever greater numbers of people piling into smaller quarters.

That said, once you're outside of Earth's gravity well, there's no real reason a space colony can't be made large and comfortable. A megastructure like this wouldn't be launched into space at all - just some workers and equipment who would carve it from an asteroid.

Do you not know how optical zoom works?

https://www.astronomics.com/eyepiece-highest-useful-magnification_t.aspx

Inches per aperture, you dumb fuck.
That camera has a 0.24 inch aperture.
This means optical zoom loses clarity at around 40x on a PERFECTLY CLEAR NIGHT. You're literally getting blurry garbage. Realistically, unless you're in the middle of NOWHERE on a New Moon night in the middle of winter, on a perfect cloudless night, during a low solar activity point, the best you'll get out of that Camera is 8x optical zoom.

A regular cheapo telescope has an aperture of 3", which means it can zoom up to 80x before losing focus in sub-optimal conditions.

An 8" telescope can get up to 240x.

Go buy a fucking telescope. You can get them for under $100.

I found one at a garage sale that can be aimed by computer at stars if you put in the current date and your latitude.

It's not the speed that does that, it's the energy and mass, and thus the increased gravity.

To other perspectives, events precede their causes when you have ftl communication or travel.

In classical physics, an effect can't occur before its cause. In the relativity theory, causality means that an effect can not occur from a cause which is not in the back (past) light cone of that event. Similarly, a cause can not have an effect outside its front (future) light cone.

Therefore, you cannot have FTL, no matter how you imagine it.

Causality is not what you think it is.
https://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/230007/does-quantum-mechanics-break-causality

the many worlds theory negates causality by having the universe performing a "world shift" at every non-causal event.

Considering the Big Bang expanded the universe at FTL speeds, it's a for sure thing that causality isn't what you believe it to be.

Until we have a theory of quantum gravity, though, this is all speculation with only logical evidence to it, not empirical.
