winter survival isn't that hard if you have good equipment from the start, provided you're in a forest and it's always below freezing. "dry" snow that doesn't melt and make you wet is GOAT

Initially igloo-like structure. Then a wooden shelter insulated with branches, moss, snow.

Fish, wild game (deer, moose, birds).
hunting is great in the winter-time, as you can track game and hide traps in the snow.
