it is called the mountain state because the Appalachian mountains cover much of the state. elevation doesn have anything to do what makes a mountain a mountain.

may be one of the most underrated states in the US.

Reminds me of Scotland. Lovely natural beauty everywhere you turn. The food is shit, the people are shit, the roads are shit and 135% of the population is on heroin.
