My other idea was to put the world in a 12x12 KM grid, where the center four KM are a mountain reminicent of Olympus, and the other 140 squares, while not randomly generated, are randomly distributed, and reshuffle every time you die. Persian squares would mostly be in the eastern third. they would all be islands so that we wouldn't have to worry about reticulating splines, and also to be reminicent of the aegean. There would be some fast travel between settlements via boat but a lot of the game would be spent wandering.
