The Romans truly were incredible. I'm re-listening to the History of Ancient Rome audiobook on audible, and I can't believe how deeply and truly their sense of civilization and family ahead of the individual ran. Most great civilizations have some degree of this when on their way up, and like Rome they fall when individuals care only for themselves and will not make sacrifices for their society..

But nobody demonstrated as much grit as the ancient Romans. Aside from perhaps the Greeks of 490-480BC.

Mid 19th century until the great depression. A wealth of artists; the likes of Matisse, Monet, Picasso, along with timeless writers like Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Dickens, and Steinbeck, to name a few, all lived in this golden age
