It would probably cause a mass extinction event. We are already in the midst of a mass extinction, but it would be worse.

Life is very adaptable, but larger life forms have a hard time adapting to sudden changes. If there are massive fish die-offs, it would be pretty bad. Lots of people depend on fish as part of their diet, not to mention other animals.

Then you'd have the mass migration. If the planet gets 2 C hotter, then middle eastern areas would begin to become uninhabitable. And those people would move into Europe and/or the US.

Nobody would be able to move to the U.S. if the U.S. was serious about immigration. It's technologically developed enough to effectively patrol both land borders and its Navy is large enough to prevent any major sea crossings. Some people would get through, though less than now, but not enough to be serious. If things got really bad, then the guns would come out. Hell, Caesar killed a hundred thousand people fleeing Germania basically for the hell of it.

The world should be very afraid of the U.S. It's a very young nation with a great capacity for mischief. Shit, it's the only nation to have used nuclear weapons in war, and those were against civilian targets. You start telling Marines that they need to spray the foreign hordes with bullets, with popular support, and suddenly you've got Fortress Americana.

Sure, it's unbelievable in this political climate. But give it a few decades of climate change and civil unrest, people will be do anything to protect what's theirs, in the end.

M8 it's the Melbourne area, you'd fit right in with all the environmentalist agendas.

Not that everyone abides though. There is substantial pollution in the metropolitan area, but nothing too bad. Major rivers are slightly off-balance pH but again, nothing keeping wildlife out.

Also Victoria is known for its weird weather. You can begin the day in a cold frost and get to the afternoon in a warm sunset, and a pelting rain in the night.

America is both the country best suited to adapt to climate change and the one with the most defensible borders, unlike Europe (refugees) or your very own country (hotter places become hotter). Plus, your country's population is much more reliant on coastlines. Americans live mostly on the coasts too, but there's plenty of fertile land elsewhere within their borders.

No because natural interglacial cooling cycles are extremely slow, they take thousands of years, whereas we are warming the Earth at a much faster rate than the natural.

Humanity won't dissappear overnight or any apocaliptic shit but there will be more flash floods, natural disasters, crop failures, mass extinctions, rising sea levels threatening low cities and new diseases, among other problems. It will cause more peasants from the third world to flee to the West.

This if the Clathrate Gun hypothesis is not real. If it is we are simply fucked.

>>130113300
Well governments should be pressuring China into cutting emissions I don't believe they should get a free pass.

Also carbon credits are retarded.
What needs to be done is control population growth in the third world while investing into renewable energy and Thorium fusion reactors. We should also be researching ways to extract CO2 from the atmosphere.

All the globalist bullshit you see about global warming is just posturing and symbolic band-aid gestures nobody is tackling the real issues.

Methane only lasts in the atmosphere for 12 years as a result it can fluctuate to very high levels without any real risk. CO2 is said to last for 1000 years and so the concern is they're aren't enough "sinks" to absorb it.
Methane is said to be 30 times more potent as a CO2 gas.

This actually makes me give less of a fuck about AGW than I ever did. If Methane is 30 times more potent, and these so called "dangerous" levels do fuck all. Why should I care about CO2 levels again ?

"global cooling" sometimes comes up in tabloid news papers. However, even in the 70s there were 6 times as many scientific journal articles supporting global warming than those supporting global cooling.

The sun contributes more energy to the earth's system than any other factor, by a large margin. There is an identifiable 11 year cycle to the sun's energy output, with some theories predicting a great cycle along the margin of a few centuries.
The idea that man can do anything irreversible to this great system is asinine, and vastly overestimates how much control we truly have over the planet.

>look mommy I can take graphs from denialist websites, I don't need to study climatology to understand them

The Sun's output is too stable to change climate dramatically, and is not correlated to any recent warming. The Milankovitch cycles alone can't explain the ice age cycles either, at least not without factoring strong positive feedbacks from greenhouse gases, especially CO2.

CO2 is probably the main deciding factor on why our planet looks the way it looks today, and how some of the large-scale shifts occurred in the distant past. Leaving out CO2 as a factor means we can't account for shit and nothing makes sense; factoring it in puts the puzzle pieces together:

A lot of these "scientists" say it'll lead to mass desertification but it's completely the opposite.

>Warmer weather causes increased oceanic evaporation
>water vapor accounts for %99.997 something of greenhouse effect, several thousands of times greater than methane
>water vapor reaches saturation point, creates additional cloud cover
>clouds travel farther and carry more rain
>tropical areas remain the same temperature due to already saturated vapor levels and no increase of solar energy
>desert belts get more rain, begin to shrink
>temperature and precipitation increases in Canada, Mongolia, and Russia
>significantly more land becomes suitable for farming and human expansion
>We go back to the Roman Warm Period weather where England is growing wine grapes, North Africa can grow wheat, and we get an abundance of additional crop food
>Ocean levels barely rise.

Before you say, "but muh scientists" the PhD climatologists and ecologists that those consensus fucks call "skeptics" are saying this. Look up people like Patrick Moore or John Coleman and you'll see we're not really in any danger.

Dude these estimates are so grossly inaccurate and subject to outside factors I am not even sure how they can call them science. Margin of error has to be at least +/- 10%. and +/- 50 years. The methodology itself is flawed.
They can never ever test the accuracy of their theories beyond the point when we began taking accurate measurements.

This.
Greening of the Earth and its drivers

Overall, climate change has dominant contributions to the greening trend over 28.4% of the global vegetated area(Fig. 3c,d). Positive effects of climate change in the northern high latitudes and the Tibetan Plateau are attributed to rising temperature, which enhances photosynthesis and lengthens the growing season, whereas the greening of the Sahel and South Africa are primarily driven by increasing precipitation
(Supplementary Fig. 13). South America is the only continent where negative climate effects were statistically significant
(Supplementary Figs 10 and 11b). This is particularly important owing to the role of the Amazon forests in the global carbon cycle 19,20
. Ecosystem models may tend to overestimate the responses of vegetation growth to precipitation 12 (Supplementary Section 10), which is one of the reasons why the fate of the Amazon forests continues to be debated.

nah the problem is what is the actual issue with the climate getting warmer. The only thing that reasonably looks likely is a sea level rise. Weather should be nicer, and plant grow will be much higher for better crop yields and such. So the question more is what is the problem with global warming?

Yes all these different measurements of different gas bubbles taken from different ice cores match up perfectly in their variation, must be the fault of the jew!

KYS

>Figure 6.3. Variations of deuterium (δD; black), a proxy for local temperature, and the atmospheric concentrations of the greenhouse gases CO2 (red), CH4 (blue), and nitrous oxide (N2O; green) derived from air trapped within ice cores from Antarctica and from recent atmospheric measurements (Petit et al., 1999; Indermühle et al., 2000; EPICA community members, 2004; Spahni et al., 2005; Siegenthaler et al., 2005a,b). The shading indicates the last interglacial warm periods. Interglacial periods also existed prior to 450 ka, but these were apparently colder than the typical interglacials of the latest Quaternary. The length of the current interglacial is not unusual in the context of the last 650 kyr. The stack of 57 globally distributed benthic δ18O marine records (dark grey), a proxy for global ice volume fluctuations (Lisiecki and Raymo, 2005), is displayed for comparison with the ice core data. Downward trends in the benthic δ18O curve reflect increasing ice volumes on land. Note that the shaded vertical bars are based on the ice core age model (EPICA community members, 2004), and that the marine record is plotted on its original time scale based on tuning to the orbital parameters (Lisiecki and Raymo, 2005). The stars and labels indicate atmospheric concentrations at year 2000.

great, the strongest can live in a barren wasteland.

fuck that, i don't care about evolutionary downward pressure on humanity, we'll have human genetic engineering soon enough anyway.

why not instead decide to be considerate human beings for once?

we shouldn't sacrifice ecosystems worth of biodiversity for some trivial shit. That's information that will be erased from our universe for all time.

Global warming does not mean mars like climate you moron.
If third world shitters can't survive harsh storms and hotter deserts then too bad for them, the world doesn't need those niggers anyway.

>b...but then they'll immigrate!
If they start taking jobs and resources en mass away from native populations you've got WW3 on your hands, you think people were acting stupid fighting for oil ten years ago? Wait until they are fighting for food and land, see how long the liberals and their pet niggers last against millions of locals with starving children out for blood and wanting their shit back, they won't be sharing either, they will take it all and kill anyone who tries to stop them.

I can't fucking wait.
