Well, surgery on anyone over 55 tends to be discretionary, as the body isn't as spry and the person may not wake up. Hips are also rip with arteries and if the bullet had damaged his bone, he could have complications from bleeding or marrow infection which is one of the worst ways to die. So, his age, complications, infection, and his heart are all big factors here, and if they discovered that he has like an 70% clogged artery, they may have to put a stint in his heart first before they put him under for hip surgery.
