sounds a lot like me. I'm 36 now. When I was in my 20s I used to go out drinking, had a decent sized group of friends friends, even dated a little bit (not much because I'm so ugly). So when I actually made the effort I did see some modest results. But about about 9 years ago, around the time I split with my last girlfriend, I fell into a severe depressive slump that's just become increasingly worse over the years.

Nowadays I don't go out at all and spend most my free time at home. I never try talking to girls figuring there's absolutely zero chance they'd have any interest in me. Even if a girl was receptive I'd probably think that meant there was something wrong with her. I literally can't imagine that any woman would be interested in a guy like me. Like, if I try to even imagine it, my mind outright rejects the idea.

To stave off the loneliness I've taken to self-medicating with things like drugs, video games, hookers, internet, etc. Those things provide some temporary relief but that sickening feeling from the perpetual solitude always returns before too long, plus I know that self-medicating like that is only deepening the problem. I'd like to change my ways, but I can't see any way out at this point. I'm too far gone at this point.
