i would buy into this. the price is down because Jihan Wu is being a cunt and won't submit to segwit so he's tryng to hard fork the chain. it has spooked people and they sold because they don't have trading discipline. great buying opportunity here

bitcoin reached a record high just 3 days ago, I assume tons of people decided to sell their shit, so obviously the price took a nosedive.

Looks like a perfect time to buy some, if you like to gamble with volatile currency.

In the greater time frame, yes, doesn't matter if one buys now or in 3 months. Capital wise, wait 3 months and buy when it goes up again, or play on risk and hope for a death cat bounce
>>
>>130033679
its not just a dip. dips go back up. dips are corrections during and overall upward trend

its really the popping of a big fat bubble. BTC is overvalued as FUCK at $3000 and it was a matter of time. the new government bill isnt helping either.

as long as the government doesnt kill BTC is will always be worth something, but it is not worth 3k nomatter what shills tell you on here.

its still at $2200 now. I would wait until its done dropping and buy some. if you could get it for $1000 or less youre basically guaranteed to make some money. i would even consider buying some if it hit 1500

No it's called a bubble, bubbles burst. They should have connected bitcoin to gold or some other precious metal during the highs. It would have backed it.

Ultimately bitcoin is a fiat currency THAT IS BACKED BY NOTHING! No matter how the most optimistic want to spin it.
>>
>>130033679
This literally happens every single time there's a large spike. Each time though it never dips as far as the last time, and it increases beyond what it was.

Last peak was 2760 on May 25 and then it dipped to 1865 on May 27. This peak was 2980, and is currently 2280.

It isn't, neither is the Euro. However all my savings are in gold and silver which held their value quite well in comparison to our dollar.

While most everyone else lost about 25% of their savings (when the CDN nosedived), mine held. Actually gained a touch.
>>
>>130035195
>by what is the CAD backed exactly?

the CAD, Euro, deutchemark, whatever, are or were backed by trust, and that's all any money has been backed by since we all went off the gold standard, and even then you had to trust that people would always want gold, which is not necessarily a given. Aluminum was more valuable than gold not too long ago, which is why the Washington Monument has an aluminum cap.

Bitcoin is not really trustworthy yet, as seen by its unpredictable volatility and scams where bitcoins "disappear" or get hacked.
>>
>>130035183

The crypto market is still fucking small, its literally nothing.

At this point it can only grow over time and reach ATH after ATH.

I wonder what a recession would mean for cryptos, like when banks talk about locking their customers assets to pay some debts for the state

What you mean is when a exchange gets hacked and is not ensured. Well thats your fault for storing your money at said exchange. Its like storing your paper money at an uninsured bank that gets robbed.

But even that is suffering from a trust or credibility issue in the sense that it might not scale like they claim. Right now it's limited to about 7 transactions per second, I think, and one transaction uses as much electricity as a typical wasteful american home in a whole day. Which is thousands of times higher than a credit card transaction which processes immediately.

And if Bt hard forks, much of the trust will evaporate overnight.

Delusion, the safe bet for this cycle was byuing around 380 in March 2016 and selling around 1200 in February 2017, everything after this was risky bubble territory, could have gone to over 9000 or just 1500. Iam glad it just went to 3000, this will shorten the triangle correction

I'm no expert, but "they" seem to agree that absolute anonymity and no transaction errors is incompatible with efficiency and speed.

Remember when BTC was going to facilitate micro payments, and that was going to fix the web, where I could actually pay 5 or 10 cents for something without having to pay a $1 fee? If that had worked, you could pay pennies here and there for things you enjoyed, and the artist or video creator would get all the money (almost), and if a million people liked their stuff they would be fine, and fuck the studios. But that never happened, and probably won't with BTC.
>>
>>130037042
this isnt analogous with new banking. this is analogous with an online barter economy who are all selling shells to each other.

everyone who wants to play with the shells adds value to the shells, so they have some value, but that value will eventually only be the first to market value of BTC

with infinite alt coins available BTC offers no competitive advantage. your shells are just as valuable in utility as my shells 2.0.

Gold has utility, it's not a correct analogy.

Bitcoin has the same utility as literally any crypto that any person creates at any time from now until the end of time.

First to market advantage is value but it is not going to sustain value. That'd be like the UK Pound being the most valuable currency today as it's the oldest. It's not.

Only thing they can do at this point is market manipulation by buying into it themselves and trying to destabilize the markets with price dumping to lower trust into it.

Look at the history of BTC, which is a mere blip in real terms, and the word "stable" does not come to mind. I still wonder how the fuck people accept BTC payments when it's bouncing around like it has been in the last few days. I suppose the price is pegged to some "real" currency and someone or other eats the difference when it's zooming up or down.

Honestly, the only excuse you have for panicking is if you're a total noob and clueless.
Bitcoin has had proportionally MUCH bigger drops throughout all of its history.

This one time it dropped from 10 cents to 2, that's an 80% drop.
But wouldn't you give your left nut to be able to go back in time and buy at 10 cents?

Yes you would.

Don't let these voices of doom scare you off, they just want to create a panic so they can buy cheap coin off your sorry ass.

>The final value of BTC is only to be estimated when the last coin is mined.

That doesn't even make sense. You could have 1BTC or 1 trillion BTC market. The 'final value' will never be known because there's always going to be someone trading it. If a currency has a final value it must be 0 because that is the end of the currencies use.

Regarding currency comparisons: Those currencies differ based on the economic output/stability of the countries they are from, they have nothing to do with first to market advantage.

The only advantage BTC has is first to market, and that will not remain an advantage forever.

It's a speculative asset. You could have a trillion of them and it's still a speculative asset. The number of Bitcoins isnt relevant to their value.

As soon as you could buy a fraction of a Bitcoin you just needed 1 Bitcoin to exist and it could've been traded upto a market cap of $1bn, so long as there's speculation.

The design of a disruptive crisis must also be done according to procedures; once the cryptocurrency system has been deployed and successfully tested, the collapse of the dollar-based monetary system can proceed as planned. Actually, we are moving from a system based on the gold standard - in which the actors do believe that the declared quantities of gold are really what they are told - to a system based on altcoins, in which the agents do believe secrecy and anonimity is guaranteed. Of course, this is not true.

I bet if you go to a carnival it takes forever for you to walk down the midway, because every carnival barker stops you and gets your money, and you walk out of the place with your pockets turned inside out without even a over sized low quality stuffed animal.

GLOBAL BANKERS ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND. If they are about it, then stay the fuck away from it. If they are against it, and it ACTUALLY threatens them and their strangle hold on the world, then it is much more likely in favor of the people, and not the banking jackals.

You are a fucking moron to throw money in to the snake pit, let the snakes play with it, and expect the snakes to give it all or any of it back to you again. Put your money in tangible things that have value to YOU in this real reality. Only invest in things that you want to see succeed, not greedy visions of profit to sustain some vision of hedonism. Don't be a snake, snakes always see a snake in the mirror.

I'm really for /biz/ to die already, so they can learn actual business practices and investing. Anyone investing in cryptos now is doing if because of EMOTION, because of the FEELING that they will GET RICH QUICK. You can tell just from the language they use in those threads. At best, at absolute best, you are straight up gambling to invest in this shit, especially, ESPECIALLY now.

All these bitcoin advocates have never actually sold any.

Its fucking impossible to sell them. Bitcoin is a scam. The NWO Illuminati plan is to go cashless, remember? Bitcoin is the perfect NWO currency.

Buy silver or Gold

Yeah they passed the,
“Combating Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, and Counterfeiting Act of 2017.” act.

Bitcoin is a scam if you ask me
>>
>>130034975
>bitcoin is a fiat currency

But that's wrong.
>>
The way I understand the situation, the FBI/CIA/ETC holds the vast majority of this "currency" (due to it being the main currency for shady internet dealings that got raided (cue: silkroad).

If so that begs the question: CAN Bitcoin even crash (unless certain three-letter-agencies want exactly that)? And would they even? What would be the gain in this case?
A short-term money infusion perhaps, more and illegal weapons for their syrian regime change though that one is pretty much lost and they should know that. So, possibly arming the iranian kurds to incite the next civil war? Wont work either as Iran is too homogenous and will fall into line the moment there is a serious threat.

Have you sold any?
>>
>>130055451
Yes on local bitcoins
>>
It is such a speculative bet, shit gets real volatile
>>
>>130055451
I haven't tried but I use Kraken to trade cryptos and there is an option to withdraw as GBP USD or EUR on there also
>>
>>130053622
thats why crypto is shit as a currency, however underground corporations will still use it to buy black market items.
it could still have worth as a store of value, like gold
>>
>>130055489
>on local bitcoins

You sold bitcoins on local bitcoins? What does this mean exactly?
>>
>>130053622
These currencies are a digital alternative to gold. Good luck believing that, until 1000 trilions, I won't believe it's overbought.

This is the big switch from Bitcoin/Ethereum to Litecoin.

Litecoin will likely surpass 2k before the end of the year.

You use digital IoUs by Kraken, not Bitcoin. Kraken uses Bitcoin, but even here I'm quite sure they trade in IoUs by some chinese mining company.

Yeah goy, keep saving in our inflated currency, don't plan for the future, also, bail out means success.
>>
>>130055852
Bail ins are the real worry for savers
>>
>>130054806
I get your point but it's not impossible to sell them, I made a little fortune since my early twenties without knowing shit about trading or currencies . Also, cashless or not, the principle for money is everywhere the same, be it for shiny metal chunks or bits and bytes, as long as it's rare and people use it.

might be a good time to buy. the market had to do some correcting after the insane bull run of the last 2-3 months.
>>
>>130033679
it's crashing because Trump and Republitards are cracking down on cryptocurrency
>>
>>130055923
Both are bad for savers, bail out are just more common because they don't need to confiscate anyone's property directly. The problem is not what people see, but what they don't see.
>>
>>130055754
no worries. Thanks for the link. Im still skeptical, but I'll look into it.

1. BITCOIN HAVE LIMITED QUANTITY, IN DIFFERENCE FROM TULIPS, DOLLARS AND Ethereum
2. GOLD EXACTLY SAME A PYRAMID SCHEME AS A BITCOIN BUT ALREADY ABSORB ALL IN
3. CURRENT CAPITALIZATION OF THE BITCOIN 35,788,210,511 USD
FOR EXAMPLE RUSSIAN BILLIONER ALISHER UZMANOV MAY BUY THE HALF OF ALL BITCOINS
USA MILITARY BUDGET - 611,000,000,000 USD
USA DEBT - 18,984,100,000,000 USD
GOLD IN THE WORLD 31553,2 TONS = 1,278,960,782,690 USD
BITCOIN SIMILAR TO GOLD FOR ACCUMULATION AND SIMILAR TO DOLLAR FOR MONEY TRANSFER
THE ONLY THING THAT PREVENTS THE BITCOIN FROM BECOMING A WORLD CURRENCY IS ITS LOW COST
AT THE PRICE OF 10,000,000 USD FOR 1 BITCOIN IT ALREADY CAN REPLACE DOLLARS
-----------------------------------
TYPICAL PROBLEM FOR BILLIONER: TO BUY APARTMENT FOR 15 YEARS ASIAN GIRLFREND
FOR EXAMPLE YOU - BILL GATES
YOU HAVE MONEY IN THE BANK
YOU CAN NOT DO ANYTHING WITH THIS MONEY, YOU CAN NOT TAKE TONS OF CASH. GOLD IS VISIBLE ON METAL DETECTORS AT THE AIRPORT
BEFORE PAYING SERIOUS MONEY, YOU NEED TO RECEIVE THE APPOINTMENT PERMISSION AND PAY THE TAXES
AND IF JOURNALISTS SEE WILL BE THE SCANDAL
WITH BITCOIN THERE IS NO PROBLEM
WITH BITCOIN ONLY PROBLEM IS BITCOIN LOW PRICE AND LOW BITCOIN AMOUNT IN INTERGENERAL ARBITRATION
-----------------------------
HERE IS THE DIAGRAM:
https://ibb.co/h8HDiF
BITCOIN PRICE WILL RISE, LIQUIDITY WILL INCREASE, APPLICATION WILL BE EXPANSIONED
THIS IS THE EGYPTIAN PYRAMID AND NEVER WILL BE RUINED
