America is massive and almost everyone in it speaks english and everyone around it speaks a decent amount as well. its largely pointless to learn a second language here tho most do to some degree in school (i took spanish in middle school and french in high school). but because you rarely have the opportunity to use it you tend to forget it.

i think people around the world still cant grasp just how massive the US is. you can practically go 1000 miles in any direction and you will most likely still find most people who will either speak primarily or atleast know a decent amount of english. its not like the UK.

For a long time since it's start really America has had lower classes of people, both in quality and race.

Our education went into the shitter because of political influence somewhere in the mid to late 2000's. I was lucky enough to have graduated in 2005 and so missed most of the worst of it thankfully, but I saw it coming and when I got to college, I was dealing with it there. It's actually pretty horrifying to me because I grew up wanting to be a teacher after having had quite a few impressive teachers myself. To see how much education has changed now compared to when I was in elementary school really makes me sad. Teachers used to guide students and you'd get promotions for being particularly creative and inspiring; now we indoctrinate them or we're out of a job. At the time I thought to blame Bush and his NCLB policy. I don't know who to blame anymore. It's still terrible and it's getting worse. States need to take back control I think, but also states are just as corrupt as the Fed.

US education is crap because it's run by the far left and they use it as a propaganda tool. Learning propper history and geography would be dangerous for them so they don't teach it. They teach barely anything about economics or math, but we have to read books like The Jungle. It's astonishing how slow it is. They break things down in common core that make solving basic math problems tedious as fuck, then force people to show their work. I have a STEM masters but I could not pass a common core elementary math course right now because they so over complicate basic problems that I can easily do in my head. Knowing the answer is not rewarded, it just counts as incomplete or they say kids cheated by using a calculator. Honestly there are like 13 steps in 431 + 247 and it's not even a little intuitive. Multiplication is worse. They break down the numbers to be a series of simpler numbers like tens and 5s. It's nonsense.

The other half of school is busy work, like they put up a slide on a projector that says stuff, then give you a pack of sheets with the same text and some blanks. You listen to the teacher read it, and fill in the blanks. This goes on for a month or week, then there is an open note quiz that's just a few lines with blanks. Fill in the blanks and get an A. I had that kind of shit in highschool in the early 2000's

Take home work would be to summarize chapters of random books or write fictional stories.
