How are Iran and Russia's relations?

The Middle East would be a great tourism location if it wasn't for all the constant "freedom" going on. Both Syria and Lebanon were known as tourist locations too.

I think there was a German study that looked into the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel and noticed how Israel bombed a lot of the tourist infrastructure in Lebanon.

SCO is not a security organization. Its just a mechanism for its members to talk and maintain dialogue. Think of it as the G-20 with China as the First Among Equals.

>Would the SCO actually mobilize in the event of a war? Is this war going to push Syria, Iran, and possibly Turkey into the same alliance?

The war in Syria seems to be de-escalating, but I can imagine a conflict in which they end up in the same side.
>>
>>129983981
Strange, in a lot of documentation about it its considered a security organization. I guess its less NATO and more "if a genocide is occurring in a member state and the UN ignores it due to the political background then we will send peacekeepers instead" sort of deal.

What about the CSTO? Syria has been vitally important to Russian power projection and naval nuclear weapons since the cold war. They directly intervened in Syria and the Syrian government supports them, why not enter them into an official alliance?

Iran ad Russia relations are warming. The glue that hold them together is their boy, Assad. They are however competitors in the energy market. Also Russia doesn't want to pick sides in the Shia/Sunni thing going on between Iran/KSA. They have no interest in backing Iranian leaning powers just because.
Russia want doesn't want to totally alienate the other Arab states, because the KSA can help keep oil prices stable and the other Gulf States can invest in Russian Energy projects. Russia needs all the cash it could get.
In regards to the CIS, the answer is no. They have one solid interest keeping them together, Syria. Iranian interests and Russian interests are simply do not much up enough to for such an agreement. I cant see Belarus allow itself to dragged into a conflict just because Iran is in trouble and vice versa.
There is more to this relationship than i can articulate but i am sure you could do your own research.

I would say it was deescalating too if Trump's wacko cockwaving wasn't making me nervous.

He's going all in openly deploying US soldiers in with the Kurds and calling it a "coalition". He's struck the Syrian government what, four times in the past three months? Most recently from a CIA blacksite set up on the border between ISIS and FSA controlled territory at Al Tanf that they're calling a " US coalition training base". If they start chugging in nusrat ragheads across the border to bolster FSA positions at this vital area then the civil war could last much longer and things get a lot hotter as IRGC directly enter Syria.

If Trump gets his way so many Syrians are going to die that by 2020 Russians and Iranians will be fighting Americans and Saudis for this territory. Its an oil and religious war so these parties consider it priceless.

The SCO has no obligation of its members to go to each others defense. There is no article 5 to trigger. It's a security organization in the sense that it gives a method for people to talk to each other and to give its members open diplomatic channels. Security is not only guaranteed by guns.
The CSTO is a NATO-like security pact. IMO it has more wiggle room than NATO with respect to its obligations. Syria is a client of Russia, but not a member of the CSTO, which is composed of former Soviet states. Back during the old Soviet days, Syria was not a member of the Warsaw Pact. As to joining the CSTO? No, Syria is worth supporting and defending but not worth starting a world war.

AMERITURDS AT IT AGAIN

>US special forces in southern Syria to establish new base

>BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:17 A.M.) – The military presence of the United States in the desert of southern Syria is increasing, with additional firepower assets – in the form of M148 HIMARS rocket artillery systems – being sent to reinforce the joint Coalition-Free Syrian Army (FSA) base at al-Tanf. Furthermore, it has now become apparent that the US plans to build another base in the area.

>As with the al-Tanf base, the new base – described as being 60 to 70 kilometers northeast of al-Tanf in the area of al-Zakf – is to be a joint operational command center for both Coalition occupation forces in Syria and the pro-Western Maghawir al-Thawra mercenary faction (an FSA franchise directly funded, trained and armed by the US Department of State). Maghawir al-Thawra is mostly made up of fighters native to the Syrian province of Deir Ezzor who prior to their expulsion by ISIS from the province had actually facilitated the operations of the terrorist group’s jihadist predecessor in eastern Syria, Jabhat al-Nusra (the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda, which later merged into ISIS in that region of Syria due to ideological and strategic commonality).

>The presence of the al-Zakf base is to help expand the fight against ISIS in southern Syria despite the fact that the US special forces and their attached proxies currently share no front line with the terrorist group. This reality is due to a recent pro-government advance towards the Syrian-Iraqi border that outflanked al-Tanf to the northeast, cutting Coalition-led forces off from ISIS territories in eastern Syria. The rationale for the pro-government operation was to re-establish ground-based communications between the Damascus and Baghdad governments;

Did you see "The Putin Interviews"? Putin not really a fan of big military alliances. He prefer direct deals between countries, guaranties of mutual help in case of war, etc.
CSTO main goal is defense against jihadi and "color revolutions". With all due respect, Tajikistan is not really a factor in case of big war. But having access to bases on their territory and ability to deploy airborne troops in case of emergency are breddy gud.

I don't think you understand America.

In a way we were/are the first and largest domino of the kike master plan to destroy and take over the world. America has no culture, no values, no core people - just "freedom". This " freedom" incapacitates the average American, saps them of any convictions and leaves them to wallow in a nation of limitless opportunity shooting heroin in under a slide in a playground. The great mixed race and identity-less plebian populace only cares about their own affairs and our cozy overindustrialization makes the problems of the world a distant thought. Inside we few who can see beyond the next welfare paycheck or bitch to fuck feel purposeless. Nobody has any identity aside from "freedom" and its crippling. This "freedom" allows kikes and the corrupt to concentrate their power to dominate our globe crushing industry, politics, and military. Our mindless populace desperate to feel purpose fall in line with these establishments - off the record US soldiers deployed to SDF territory literally think evicting Arabs from the villages is risking their life for our "freedom".

Freedom, freedom, freedom, there it fucking is again. Freedom is a social construct like anarchy, its just decentralized authoritarianism that grows into regular authoritarianism as opportunists seize more power using their " freedom".

America is the land where it all started. Freemasons obsessed with helping Jews created an economic haven for capitalists(primarily jews) to exploit the new world. Jews establish banks, federalization, the importation of slaves, and constant foreign intervention over our short history. We later expand to 50 states which have more industry and natural resources than most of the world. We effectively economically and/or martially colonize almost the entire world except North Korea and Iran, and we're still the victims of foreign aggression?

We're the ultimate good goys, fucking nuke us please.

>>129996215
Priority now is to cut the SDF from further advance south, and get the escaping IS by RuAF, so they can't reach Homs or Deir ez-Zor.
Than the second part of Operation Lavender can take place, secure the eastern Homs CS, Ithriya/Khanaseer, and finally progress on DeZ itself, hopefully with the support of PMU closing in from the other side of the border.
>>
>>129996791
Will the SDF try to clash with SAA if SAA cuts them off? It might provoke some tensions I think
>>
>>129996954
Provoking tensions and artillery exchange is one thing, but getting it to the point of escalation with CJTFOIR & RuAF intervention is completely another thing.
I wonder which one is the most eager to take preventive measures, I guess CJTFOIR is more dangerous, because RuAF commanders are somewhat responsible. Hopefully won't happen, but it's still a posibility.
>>
they are trying to turn the syrian flag into a moderate one
>>
>>129996791
Cutting off the SDF ought to be their highest priority. Any territory they take is basically permanent but any territory ISIS takes they can get back with relative easy later. DeZ can hopefully survive with enough air support and drops of reinforcements and supplies.

>>129996954
Feel like American coalition forces are caring less about escalation. I'd expect them to steal some border towns that aren't guarded and attack the SAA many more times in the future. If Mattis and Trump get their way they might directly engage IRGC forces and equipment too.

The other possibility for Tigers' advance is to do a kotel by advancing west and besieging IS there to relieve the pressure on Khanaseer/Ithriyah, but I agree that cutting SDF from the advance south should be priority, since the largest counter-attack of IS was repelled recently on the supply road.
>>
Also I've checked out the mapz, and to besiege IS in the pocket, SAA needs to advance roughly 40kms west, while for cutting of the SDF it's about 30kms east, all that under high pressure for IS.
Good thing is Hezbollah and Liwa al-Quds were seen there, so Tiger's got some support this time.
Best option could be doing these two advances simoultanously, but that would require the NDF&friends advancing on the plateau from the CPs at the supply road, and I'm not sure if they're capable of it.

>>
>>129999826

Sometimes I wonder if the Raqqa operation is not a US plant to kill off the k*rds. How many of them were killed ever since the beginning of the offensive? More of them died than ISIS members when they fought in the surrounding area.

Think back to when the conflicts ins Syria and Ukraine started. I remember them coming out of nothing in the matter of a few weeks. Sure there have been events foreshadowing them but you didn't really expect them to escalate into this extend. Look at all the parties currently involved in Syria and what memorable events happened yet it all started in 2011 with some media reports about shootings in demonstrations. Now think about how the world looks right now:
>Saudi/Qatar situation
>Afghanistan gets worse
>Turkey chimping out in Northern Syria
>Terror attacks and migration ein Europe
I guess there is something of similar scale happening way before this war even ends and we would probably never expect it to happen.

Israel has a certain measure of terrifying instability in combat because they aren't held accountable for what they do. Want to knockdown this hospital in Palestine for an Israeli condo? It's suddenly "a Hamas weapons storage facility" and it and the residential area around it gets shelled with artillery. Hey Shalom, are you bored? Ya, Chaim. China economically depends on enslaving America to build itself, long term they want to cut ties, lead East Asia, and fuck them up in a pacific war to establish hegemony.

Right now China is modernizing extremely fast, they have a giant industry, their military is pushing out 5th gen fighters, the navy is being built more and more, and their armies are becoming more professional but at the moment outside of some naval skirmishes over some islands I don't think they want war.

If I was Putin I'd be contracting China to produce military equipment for modernization to free up domestic industry for reinvestment in itself.

No, but it looks too large to be an M249, it has a too long barrel, it's clearly heavy and quite cumbersome. The carry handle has a 90 degree angle unlike on the M249.

Outside of F-22/35 aircraft almost the entire world is still stuck with forth gens they've modernized as they see fit. How would a forth gen handle in combat against an F-35? Would the F35 be so advanced that it'd have air dominance no matter what?

That's why I asked. On one hand you have a multitrillion dollar aircraft project producing a brand new aircraft with "the latest technologies" that is notoriously plagued with problems and on the other hand you have increasingly modernized versions of a 30+ year old plane kept together through cannibalization and lack of funding for anything else.

Does the physical craft not matter as long as the tech modernization is up to par and the pilot skilled? I figured modern electronic jet warfare about evading missiles depended on having the best electronic detection systems and deterrents which I figured would be the best on a brand new purpose built aircraft like the F-35.

Is it actually complete shit only being produced because its too big to fail?

To some extent. Stealth isn't just a meme, and you can't just slap RAM coating on some old airframe and call it a day (well, you can, but it won't be of much use). The airframe has to be designed for it, both externally and internally. And embedding new systems and sensors into an airframe that was designed without having them in mind isn't easy and only works to some extent too.

BVR combat is gambling, so you want everything that can give you an advantage. Good radar and missiled aren't the only factor for that, RCS, countermeasures and embedded IR detection systems and whatnot play an important role as well.

Depending on how good the radar is on them, two stealth fighters can see each other on radar from BVR, and if they can't ground radar certainly can, and the f35 at least is supposed to be data linked to everything, so it should get that info from the ground or those large radar jets if they can't see it with their own.
>>
>>130010166
So in general the F-35 is a stealth multirole that's only as effective as its stealth applications? Basically meaning its only good for CAS, strikes, and striking other aircraft from long distance?

Is the F22 any better in that regard? If a PAK FA and F22 met and knew each other were there would they be matched?

Yes, its a multirole fighter, its not supposed to dogfight. No idea what would come out on top, but considering there are like 6 PAK FA right now that's not to relevant t anyways. Should it ever come to war the US would have air superiority pretty quick, its been like that for decades. Not because they necessarily have the better and more fighters but because they're better linked and supported.

The F35 is well capable of dogfighting, even though traditional energy fighting becomes less relevant through advances in missile technology.
