Anyone else getting a bit down about the state of affairs recently? I was pretty convinced that the US election and EU referendum were signs of the tide-turning and that the misery brought about by the next recession would unleash all the pent-up frustration built up over the years.
Recently though the landslide victory of Macron (which still escapes my comprehension) and the lack of retaliation to the string of attacks in the UK coupled with the pathetic responses have left me pretty stultified and pondering whether I was overly optimistic about people's willingness to assert themselves. I still believe we're overdue a recession but I don't know whether anyone has the guts or inclination to get things rolling.
