These are the signs of a pathetic, declining power trying to shield itself from the economic power of a rising giant in its final days of world hegemony. You will be replaced by China as the world's foremost superpower by 2050 at the latest, no matter how much you try to restrict the free flow of international goods and capital in attempt to protect yourselves from outside competitors.

If the USA shields itself from Chinese investment, the EU will embrace it and will join China in the 21st Century.
