I think you might also try considering that many of the men and women who enlist into the Armed Services weren't/aren't aware of the true function of the military behind the veneer that is in place. A lot of the folks I have met in the enlisted ranks have been from small towns, low income families where college really isn't an option for them for numerous reasons. Yes, some join to escape the civilian world, but there are some who truly believe they are joining to support and defend our country. You can't really blame them for that since it's basically shoved down everyone's throat since 9/11.

Are there entitled veterans? You bet your ass there are. Are there entitled civilians who deem their career as a societal place holder in the hierarchy of things? Yes sir.

Are there good hearted veterans who would do anything for any other American? Sure are. Don't base your judgement on all over the deeds and demeanor of few.
