The issue is with pathogens. Raw milk can be sold but it CANNOT be sold as a product for consumption. This is to avoid death of elderly, pregnant women and children. That's what my mom did, and we've been doing it ever since, as well as raw butter, fresh eggs, etc. We've since learned how to make our own cheese and yogurt, from the milk, as well. Most of the cows in factory farms here in the US are caked in feces, including their udders, not to mention the infections and cysts most have as well. My Grandfather used to run a small family run dairy farm until the 90's when factory farms put him and all the other dairy farmers in the community out of business.
