If Sinn Féin wants to win in the 26 counties it needs the votes. Mary Lou McDonald is the deputy leader - a left-leaning, nationalist republican from the middle class.

Adams deals in the real world. He doesn't want some theoretical victory, he wants Sinn Féin to get as far as they can with their goals in Ireland as it is. Which means dealing with what exists. I'm happy to see more young people of the middle class coming into Sinn Féin.

The one difference is the working class in the six counties were Sinn Féin's bedrock in the 1980s. In fact, the middle class SDLPers were all just kicked out of their seats in the recent UK elections - all nationalist votes went to Sinn Féin.

Soon the largest political party in the six counties will be a nationalist and republican one. Then it will be the majority party in the six counties. Its presence in the 26 counties is growing every election to Leinster House. Every day that goes by reunification gets closer and closer, and we have Adams to thank for that.

Also, Bernadette Devlin McAliskey says Adams is not far left like her and she's right.

Sinn Féin has always been in the opposition, and has never set policy in the 26 counties. It has also never set any policy in the 6 counties that the DUP did not OK.

You dont get it. If the people vote them into power in the south they will be even worse than the current government. If you give them enough power they will not be for nationalist causes, adams said it himself on the radio that they are not a nationalist party only a republican party. They are more concerned about lgbt, Feminism etc than the actual irish people, if they get enough power to actually do something this is what you will get. As for the united Ireland we will only get it through a poll not through sinn féin. When there is an apitite for it the poll will come. Only thing good about them is the Irish language.
