If the Allies declared war on Germany because their invasion of Poland, why didn't they declare on the Soviet when the also invaded Poland?

Did i break the narrative?
>>129875307
good question, I would imagine they thought russia was a possible ally, as their philosophy was different to Germany's
>>129875638
yet the official reason behind the war was because they were allied with Poland.
>>129875638
so wouldn't that mean the should declare war on the soviet too?
>>129875307
Poland never officially declared war on USSR, they've just kinda barged in, and Polish units on the east were told to just retreat and never engage Ruskies in combat. Majority of the fighting was happening on the west, while as asked by french and english 'allies' to hold/stall german blitzkrieg as long as possible while being buttraped from both sides.

sure, but hitler was being a shit disturber, stalin was more interested with internal politics while hitler at that point had obvious dreams of expansion...plus, the winners write the history books
>>129875917
that seems like a bit of a cup out. They still invaded.

We didn't knew about Ribbentrop-Molotov, pact and we expected for Russians, and Germans to headbutt each other, but instead, they shake each other hands. As I've mentioned before we never had the chance to defend alone against german war-machine. We were just stalling them and buying time for french and british to invide germany from the west(which was pretty much empty at that time, because all effort was put into September campaign). When polish forces goverment tried to evacuate via hungary to west, they weren't allowed to pass through czechoslovakian territory. Most officers has been captured without a fight by USSR, and later shoot at KatyĆ massacre. Over 22000 higher officers, elites and specialists shoot in the back of the head by NKWD

>i know, that is why i find it weird that the allies didn't declare war on Soviet. But they would even join forces later in the war. it makes no sense.
>>129876694
If we already backstabbed you in 1939, why do you blame us for not helping you during Warsaw Uprising?
>>129876973
Allies didn't even want to do anything with Hitler at the time, and were very passive and allowed him for too much, in my opinion, allied countries government didn't have a slighted sign of having a spine. How could they be expected to declare war on USSR?
I imagine Germany would have been an easier target, you know, just in general.
>>129877349
>but why declare war on Germany? if the didn't care about about upholding alliances.

(((Elites)))?

They'd ended their part of the war on 5th of September so 2 weeks before Russian invasion

Their war declaration was more symbolic, that's ironic because poland had a chance to 'befriend' nazi germany in 1935, but western allies were choosen instead. Maybe all of that suffering could have been spared by smarter foreign policies of all involved. We had too much faith that british and french will keep their word, and it bite us back in the ass, we became the biggest losers on the winning camp.
