You can't compare opinion polling to predicting election outcomes. The latter is a lot more complicated and being off by a 1 or 2 points is a lot more significant. If you say Red is going to get 45% of the vote and Blue 47%, but Blue gets 45% and Red gets 47%, it's not like you were substantially off about how much of the votes each would get even though the outcome was completely different.
