To elaborate your pic is showing a building with a completely different design. Concrete columns and post tensioned slabs. Much more resilient. Twin towers were supported by the exterior vertical steel and an interior main column/elevator shaft. The span between was supported by relatively thin steel bar joists. These turned to shit from the fire. Floors collpased. Once it got rolling there was no stopping the cascade.

Structural steel does lose strength from fire, however steel is an excellent conductor of heat and would pull excess heat away from the hottest columns preventing them from failing. This is why none of the outer walls were red hot (if the fires were as hot as the official story claims)

I think I know why the building went up the way it did. The building was undergoing renovations since 2016 and they updated the outside and insulation and heating. They use polystyrene cladding because its cheaper than wood. Its what Taco Bell and other commercial buildings are being made with.

I honestly can't believe that high rises don't have some sort of emergency evac system. All it would take is some sort of rope or metal wire to be dropped from the side, and some sort of friction-slow-down-thing attached to every person, who'd hook onto the line, and jump, and be safely brought to the ground.
