With the help of their community I bought about $200 worth of parts on amazon and built a Prusa Mendel 3. It was pretty cool. The only problem with the maker movement that I can see is the hackerspace, the network of community worskshops that have popped up in every major city.
I've found them to be focused on techniques of sabotage and subversion, and dominated by the type of marxist Jews who are prime candidates to overthrow the government.
They practice the same techniques there that Trotsky used in his coup d'etat against the Tsar in Russia: communications system tampering, power grid disabling, expedient breaking and entering skills like lock picking, evasion and escape tactics like handcuff picking and fed spotting.
All in all, it's a disturbing trend.
