Philly native here and yeah there are ghettos and thugs in the city but it's huge and diverse. Met people all the around the world here since I started at college and there's plenty of great neighborhoods that are mostly white for yall or gentrified areas that are black/white with no problems. I grew up in rural north east PA where Randy Stair is from. I actually went to school with him... I had relatives that lived deep in the mountains in that area. The wildlife up that way is pretty cool. I've even seen a pair of mountain lions once.

The big downside is jobs that way. Also drugs in some areas are increasing and the surrounding cities are big dumpster fires (Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, etc.)
I currently live outside of Philly. I like that I can go out and literally never see the same people. That's kind of nice. I don't like how my waters being monitored by the EPA, the high cost of living (I pay $1,100 in rent), and how generally unfriendly many people are here though.

I eventually want to go live in a rural area somewhere in the US. I miss that wildlife and having acres of land to myself. I miss not having to deal with traffic and that peacefulness. I do miss my family too (at times).

I may go back to NEPA, but it all depends on job opportunities (electrical engineering). Def. not sticking around here for much longer.
