The video is decent, but consider this: Would society be better off if governments (instead of central banks) controlled the money?

The answer is not very clear to me. With bankers in power, at least we get a more or less functional economy more often than not. Politicians are just idiots with power in their hands, most of them don't know shit about anything. Why would I rather that money was in the hands of politicians?

Now, I am not claiming that bankers are innocent or that they always have our best interests in mind. They are not innocent. Yet, I am claiming that bankers may still be a better choice in comparison to politicians. Just think of some of the bad governments you had in your own countries, and imagine what the situation would be like if they controlled money too.

Anyway, I am open to opinions on this.

This is why community banking is the best way to go, issued currency from the Treasury. Allow each community to have a bank that everyone contributes to and profits from, controlled at the local level and monitored at the state or federal level to ensure that people don't completely fuck it up because they're retarded. This ensures that the bank has a stake in the people that it loans money to, and incentivizes them to invest in them. The national currency must be backed by something stable and universally recognized as having value, that way we have an incentive to make sure that our country as a whole is being taken care of as well.

ive never looked into it, just interested, is there a 3rd option?why one or the other, how about the barter system? remove currency, the same services and products could still be had, just obtained in other ways, a complete paradigm and perception shift, what if we just removed banks(since we would not have money) and kept a government that provided the b are basics and left the rest up to the individual?

our species is getting to an unsustainable place the population growth is going to intersect with available resources, i understand that getting everyone to go along with that idea is pretty much impossible, i would just like us to elevate above the level of animals to save ourselves

Would further like to point out that if the bankers in a community banking model DID start to fuck over the constituents it is meant to serve, at least then the community members will know exactly who to place in the guillotine.
>>
>>129653919
this is interesting, how would interstate/ international goods be moved and transported, if we were to keep that going it would give a great deal of power to the corporations that control the infrastructure of all that over the smaller less financially robust communities
>>
>>129654251
eh, bartering works to a point, but it is terribly inefficient because no one will 100% agree on the value of an item that you are trying to barter with. Just imagine trying to barter with a Jew, it would be horrible. At least with currency the Jew can't tell you that it's worth any less than it actually is.

I'm actually open to interpretations of the community banking model. I think it would be the easiest system for the populace to manage and profit from.
>>
>>129654526
for corporations that act unscrupulously or in a way that damages the American populace, arrange a boycott with a community's bank. All money flowing into the bank and the banker's pockets would be subject to audit at any point, and as a result of the community bank's structure, their word and message would carry a lot of weight and respect within the community. More so than some faggy facebook post would at least. The corporations are bound to change their behavior to one that does not cut into their profit margins and banks are incentivized to organize the boycott because the richer their community is, the richer the bank is, and the more power it possesses. Which lends itself to certain quandaries in and of itself. You will have some communities that vastly outperform other communities and will have more political sway than others...but we kind of already have that anyway.

>100% agree on the value of an item that you are trying to barter with.

well that would be between the two parties wouldnt it? one mans trash is another mans treasure, say i want to trade a guy an outdoor deck build for a broke down prize car engine hes been letting rust in his garage, to me thats worth a few days of labor, to him im hauling away garbage that was to heavy to move easily, to me i got a piece of my passion

whats it matter if the man down the street doesn't see the value in the barter?

of course corporations and chains would not exist in this scenario, cant exactly go to lowes for lumber and leave them some handmade quilts in exchange

>of course corporations and chains would not exist in this scenario, cant exactly go to lowes for lumber and leave them some handmade quilts in exchange

This, pretty much. In addition to this, imagine bartering for inelastic goods. It would be a nightmare. Bartering isn't inherently a bad way of doing business, it is just extremely limited by speculation and subjectivity on the part of the business participants.

Bump. Too many leftists on this board. Doing what I can.

Reading up on this further from an old college textbook, it would be prudent to have communities engage in developing community development corporations. CDC's are non-profit organizations that act as a corporation would providing goods or services to generate profit that is directly pumped back into a community. They could be used to directly compete with private corporations and their board and structure would be set up in a way that represents each strata of community member present within a community so that it benefits the community as a whole. Profits could be contributed to local community needs, or deposited in the community bank to be used later. In theory, It would be a hybrid system, rife with competition and stimulation. Barriers would be lack of motivation to participate in the running of a CDC, as its members would not be as well-compensated as those who run private corporations. However, there would always be a group of people within a community willing to run the corporations, and as such would provide an alternative option to companies that are currently under boycott by the community bank.

It's borderline socialism, but compliance would not be mandatory, only preferential.
