I think you are right in the way. The purpose of Christian charity is not to make sure that people have enough, it's so that the believer, in being charitable, can learn to love the way that Christ loved the world. Socialism is about creating a bureaucracy to take care of charity so that we don't have to do it ourselves. They want the effects of charity without the effort or spiritual benefits
