Yeah, in theory, if they get every single other party on board (including the DUP and the Greens).
It's not happening. There's no way that Labour can realistically get into power.

There are two things stopping the conservative party reforming

The first is the MPs as they get first-dibs to choose the leader who in turn controls the party. Because of the election system all you need is for members to vote for a candidate into the last round. IDS was a fairly hard conservative but won the memberhsip ballot. However, the MPs can boot the leader when they start doing things they don't like, and conservatives are notoriously unloyal once their sensibilities are upset or the poll numbers start to dip. The current contingent of MPs is not the same as it was 10 years ago, it's stuffed of party apparatchiks. Over half of all MPs voted for May in the FIRST ROUND. Because of the elimination ballot, hard-right candidates will never be given a chance, unlike for example Jeremy Corbyn who only needed 15 MPs to be put on the ballot.

The second is the membership. I don't know who the fuck is a conservative party member these days apart from wanker students looking to get a leg-up in the party. CCHQ abandons local selection of candidates at its discretion. None of the 2017 candidates were not prior vetted by CCHQ. Regardless, the membership voted for cameron so there's no serious hope there

You can't preform entryism like in labour for three reasons. First, it costs too much, something like £30 for a year's membership? It's not the same as a £3 sign-up. Second, you have to wait a year before you can vote in a leadership election. Third, and most importantly, there is no serious motivation for this to happen, unlike the hard-left/momentum and labour entryism.

they know that, they're just playing politics

we are having another election, people just dont want to admit it because they think the public are sick of voting kek

so we will be treated to a monumentally shitty attempt at governing by the tories while they sort out their new leader, then once they are ready we have another election

Basically this is the response: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3PKE8uTSp8
I can't decide whether it'll get swing-voters pissed off with the Tories and make them shift to other parties, or if it'll leave most people worn-out and so turnout will take a nosedive, particularly with working class voters who don't feel massively politically invested anyway.
Might embolden young Labour voters though- kind of like they just want to keep pushing and pushing until they get the result they want.

The Conservative leadership aren't thinking like that. The election was a diaster, May's election has fucked them. The only reason she is still around is to attempt to create a pocket of "stability" so they can try and forge a route out of this shit show. The DUP pact* is short term (hence why the DUP are stringing them along to get short term gains), there will be a winter leadership election and then a general election before the great repel circus kicks off.

For what it's worth my advice would be to just explain to your current gf the situation and then tell your ex in no uncertain terms that you want no further contact with her and ask her to never contact you again, be formal.

However, you should archive and store everything your ex says to you both now and in the future, just in case you want the police to get involved. Or, if she tries to accuse you of something to the police.

Don't try to retaliate and don't mention to your ex that you may involve the authorities, as she may choose to escalate. Don't modify any of your replies to your ex beyond "please do not contact me again", no matter what she says etc.Tell her at every instance of contact that you want no further contact and are not interested, but record all of it.

>The Bow Group recommends urgent reform party rules to ensure the following:
>An urgent meeting of conservative activists and organisations to debate the Party's future
>The election of the party leader by the membership at least every five years
>The election of a party chairman annually
Primary selection process for all candidates
>The ability for members to vote on policy at Conservative Party conference
>The restoration of the role of members to speak from the floor at Conservative Party conference

The main barrier seems to be the 1922 Committee who will obviously not want to give up any power or influence. But I reckon that a senior Tory like Boris has enough clout to force them into submission.

I don't think that the Tories will end up adopting the proposals - as you said, they're all too arrogant, too narcissistic to move past petty short-term manoeuvring, and too set in their ways. But, if these proposals were somehow put into place, things would gradually start to change for the better.
You'd need to change a lot of other things too (get rid of all the smarmy Oxbridge twats who seem to run CCHQ for example), but it would be a great start.

desu tories should just wait it out until brexit then go for another election in 2019 at the earliest, with a new leader. too risky to do another election so soon with corbyn having some momentum. im happy to see how things go with the DUP. as long as the tories 1) sort out a proper brexit 2) reduce income tax thresholds as promised and 3) be extremely careful with anything regarding cracking down on encyrption etc then i'll be happy for the next couple of years. Brexit is so vital.

Having said that, Boris could easily make a leadership bid and as Tory leader with a decent manifesto and campaign could actually get the landslide that May should have got.

My personal preference is the Canadian conservative party leadership election.

$5000 deposit, takes place over 12 months, any canadian citizen (even if they're not an MP) can run, AV electoral system, every conservative member can vote

But the Bow Group's recommendations and my personal preference will never happen. Everything's too entrenched and they have no incentive to allow members more say, how does it benefit those who already have party/political jobs? In many respects it's good for them that members have no say, it means the tories can craft their policies according to how the general public will view it and wide public popularity, instead of things being chosen by political obsessives who tend to be more ideological.

The idea of reversing centralisation makes no sense, members are irrelevant in modern political parties. What matters is media management and, increasingly, internet and social media penetration.

Why did labour do so well this time? Because we didn't hear a fucking word from momentum mongs.

The conservatives are shitting themselves because they know they're fucked and will be able to barely function as a party as a result of this election and Corbyns effort. They're also likely terrified of the very real possiblity that when they have to call another election to function, Corbyn is now in a position to win thanks to this election making a bunch of the nonsense about him being "unelectable" being clearly untrue, and they can hardly stick with the "terrorist sympathiser" line after they jump right in bed with a party know for being exactly that at the first chance they have.

The public have only gotten even more in favour of Corbyn judging by the few polls we've gotten afterwards.

This. The fact is Corbychev has offered everything he has to offer (and also a whole bunch of other stuff he doesn't have but offered anyway) and still lost to the Tories' worst leader and worst manifesto. The Tories are completely shaken up by what's happened, they've already got the sacrificial May prepared and they'll burn her when the time comes, then if they're smart they'll restructure, reorganise, refocus, and by the next election they'll be ready. Labour has to seriously think about doing the same, not getting rid of Corbyn but still switching their game up (shit like Abbott HomeSec won't fly twice), and I don't think they will. I don't think Corbyn will even let them.
>>
>>129583156
>declining an alliance with the DUP
You don't understand what's happening. The party with the most seats is allowed to attempt to form a government in order to have their guy or gal as PM. The DUP negotiation is an attempt at forming a government. Nobody else wants anything to do with the Tories, and it's usual for the Tories to approach the DUP for support because they're almost the same party.

Even if May hadn't approached the DUP and the DUP had approached her, her declining to work with them would have meant the Tories giving up on forming a government and Labour as the next largest party being asked to form one. It's not likely, but there'd be some risk of Corbyn becoming PM if Labour gained support of some Tory MPs (although probably more likely than you'd think). This would obviously wreck May's shit totally. The other route would be another general election eventually being called which obviously would still be bad for them.

What's really funny is a lot of this shit wouldn't be so much of a problem for the Tories had they not fucked about with the parliamentary process prior to May under Cameron. They are very much producing the rope to hang themselves.

You make it appear as if the DUP are going to be authoring legislation. It is going to be confidence and supply; the Conservatives will be the ones drafting and presenting bills to the house. The DUP will only be lending their support (which they have nearly always none anyway, and only turn up for votes that relate to NI). People are acting like the DUP are going to insist that May embark on a socially conservative agenda in return for votes. This Government is not able to embark upon any controversial legislation, they will essentially stick to the bare minimum that can get the support of all Conservative MPs. The Conservative back benchers will be Mays puppets not the DUP, the DUPs support will be predictable and bought.

There are more parties in the Norn elections. Because SF has gained so much popularity in recent years, many of the other Unionist parties had their MPs stand down to ensure a DUP win in more seats by splitting the vote less. In other words the DUP is in a very weak position themselves, their 2 seat gain is more about this tactical shit than anything.

The Tory/DUP informal alliance is an attempt at a minority government.

The key are confidence votes, these used to be connected to national issues but Cameron changed this to something more like the more usual no confidence vote system. If they can ensure winning confodence votes they have a government.

>On Sunday, a Libyan coastguard official said he had evidence that aid agencies were financing African migrants who cannot afford to pay traffickers.

>The operations took place amid a brewing conflict between the Libyan Navy and various NGOs. On Sunday, the Navy announced it had driven a number of NGO vessels out of Libya’s territorial waters and Admiral Ayob Amr Ghasem denounced the behavior of certain humanitarian organizations, which he accused of lying in wait for the migrant boats to arrive, perhaps because they had been informed by human traffickers of their arrival.

>The Colonel said that despite the immense number of migrant deaths in the Mediterranean, humanitarian agencies continued to encourage migrants to make the perilous voyage. He also said he had delivered evidence of collusion between charities and traffickers to EU border security officials in Brussels.

>“The non-governmental organisations are adding to the crisis by actively encouraging increasing numbers of migrants,” Shanboor said. “Now we have the evidence they are in cahoots with the smugglers. We have evidence the smugglers call the NGOs directly and there are business deals between them.”

How long until Libya starts firing on (((NGO))) boats violating their territorial waters

Reminder that Mogg voted in favour of the Snoopers Charter, despite depicting himself as some sort of traditional conservative or classical liberal against increased state power and defender of British institutions and traditions.

Reminder that Mogg was notorious for standing in seats he had no connection to from Scotland to Shropshire to Somerset before he actually won a seat.

Reminder that Mogg disavowed the ‘Traditional Britain’ group after he caved under pressure from the leftist media for speaking to a genuinely socially conservative group
(http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-23617555)

Reminder that Mogg helped to campaign against UKIP’s Mark Reckless in the 2014 Rochester By-Election – a crucial make-or-break moment in UKIP’s history that would’ve destroyed the party’s momentum and prevented Brexit from ever happening had Reckless not been elected.

Reminder that if Mogg placed his principles and nation above party and career then he would’ve defected to UKIP alongside Carswell and Reckless back in 2014, back when there was significant UKIP momentum and it seemed as if UKIP could gain several seats in Parliament.
