We've grown up in the age of information. More than ever before, people are aware of the fucked up state of the world. Women fuck around as much as they can until they get older, then they realise they're not pretty and noone wants them around anymore. So they try to settle down, then divorce you for your money when they get bored.
Towelheads are blowing themselves up left and right, can't even blame them since Murica's been poking that hornet's nest for years now.
Can't get a decent job even with a diploma.
I can name a couple more reasons, but it all boils down to the same thing.
We don't like our reality or our odds of changing it, so we rather make the selfish decision of withdrawing into virtual and fantasy worlds so we can be entertained and forget about our troubles. Trough movies, games, drugs, etc. Making the most of our time here, hoping we won't be around much longer.
