The executive branch has been amassing more and more power for decades. Since the world wars (as it was a necessity). In recent times Congress has loved to push power away from themselves so they can't be held responsible when shit hits the fan. or pass vague, useless laws that the president has to interpret via executive order.
All of that is building up a powerful executive branch, which begins to look more and more like fascism / dictatorship / authoritarianism / etc. If the left were in power it would likely seem more communist than fascist. Either way it's a problem.
