I'm working my way through Yalecourses intro to political philosophy right now. You kind of have to start with the greeks, namely plato, namely the Republic to understand the big picture

Plato: read the Republic, the Laws, the Timaeus, the Critias, the Symposium, and Phaedrus. Then go read the seventh letter attributed (falsely) to Plato. Then read up on the exoteric vs esoteric interpretations of Plato and realize that Plato does not give you the answers but a method for approaching answers through images and stories. Also, while reading the Republic, pay attention to the fact that the Guardians (and Auxiliaries) are a military-political class that Socrates only adds because he's forced to avoid the "City of Pigs," the city in which luxury is not allowed, and ask yourself why Callipolis has an army.

If you read Aurelius, also read Seneca the Younger. Don't skip Cicero's De Officiis, De Republica (his take on Plato's Republic with some of the Phaedrus thrown in), and De Legibus (his version of Plato's Laws).

If you want to move on to the modern age, read Hugo Grotius, Sepulveda's Democritus Alter, Machiavelli's The Prince but also Discourses on Livy. Don't leave out Nietzsche.

From the twentieth century, read Eric Hoffer's The True Believer and compare it to Socrates' definition of justice in the Republic.

Nofap should be the foundation of any serious self-improvement endeavour.
