From an outsider looking in and listening to the arguments. PR either needs state hood or independence, as far as I can tell the current status quo is a drain politically and economically on both the US and PR. as for the arguments regarding a balance of power shift in the senate and house this is expected but as always it falls to the political parties to combat this. Political parties are a product of the system they operate in and not the other way round.
