Its just don't see it to be honest, at least not in the Marines it is, the only other noticeable minority in the infantry and combat arms are beans and even then the Whites usually get ahead because they put out more or are just natural leaders. As for why blacks are rarely officers, its probably because you need a college degree to be an officer and if you have a college degree you often don't have much reason to be an officer. Put simply whites are much more likely to join the military as a career and thus they are much much more likely to be officers since if you are going to work in the military until you are in your 40s you might as well be earning 60k plus per year.
