Of course it is, first of all Ireland shares no land border with any other EU state, second of all we've already got negotiations with regards to Schengen and a special case with Ireland since as we are not in Schengen.

You heard on QT last night, no one wants a hard border, not Ireland, not the EU, not us, not the DUP. It's not going to happen..

Corbyn is a hell of a lot stronger than people think. He may come across as soft and agreeable, but he defied all odds to become leader, faced down practically his entire party and got them whipped into shape in time for a snap election.

He's brushed off a vicious, all out smear campaign that even the BBC played a part in, along with the Murdoch media empire, and left the Tories with the choice of ceding Downing Street to a Labour Minority, or joining forces with a party who could massively stain their public image. Hell if the Tories had lost a few more seats it would have been a guaranteed Labour Minority Government.

And through all this, has he ever looked even remotely flapped? No.

In my opinion he has the correct blend of steel and agreeableness to negotiate a fantastic deal. May seems to be a disaster in waiting. She cant run a fucking campaign, we want her to parley with """Europes""" annoyed elite?!

Leaving both the Single Market and the European Economic Area (EEA) means that the UK automatically becomes what the EU calls a "third country"; which in turn means reimposing border controls.

According to EU rules. What happens when rules don't fit, you change the rules, or ignore them, like Greece. A hard Irish border is a EU problem not a British one. To impose one they, have to break the NI agreement, they have to pay, man and control, not the brits.

Hard crust all over round version of the bun

So the tories are now in the position where they could easily be fucked by the DUP and/or easily fucked by failing to get a good Brexit deal. Which looks highly highly likely. If coupled with implementing highly unpopular manifesto policies then its hard to see anything other than the party being in absolute ruin. Anyone care to argue any differently?

If the two main parties were pro-hard-brexit, then why did May call an election?

Take a look at the list and your hung parliament. Hard Brexit got BTFO.

Yet they all voted Labour who had a manifesto which read: 'Freedom of movement will end when we leave the European Union.'

If we do crash out with no deal, it will be because people voted for political parties who promise what they can't deliver.

I'm looking forward to bring able to say to Labour voting Remainers 'you voted for ending free movement and thus leaving the single market, the consequences we now face are down to people like you, not me.'

She doesn't have a majority, she doesn't control parliament
>>
>>129319995
A leadership challenge to May is guaranteed, the only reason it hasn't happened yet is awkward timing. But her authority has evaporated, Parliament knows it, the EU knows it. The ambitious FTA she was planning of pursuing is under threat, she won't be pursuing it anymore anyway her successor will. And her successor will inherit her weakened position and will be forced to heavily compromise the UKs negotiating strategy to get the support of Parliament. The funny thing is, as soon as the weakened Tories begin to compromise their approach on Brexit, all those retard kippers that voted for Corbyn will screech betrayal. The UKs position has been dealt an necessary blow, and will force another change of leadership in the Conservative Party at an extreme juncture.
>>
>>129319793
They also said that they want to build a "close co-operative future relationship" with the EU.
They also want to "secure continued EU market access" (which likely means the Single Market).
They also said that they want to "give a meaningful role to Parliament throughout negotiations" (ie, show everyone our negotiation strategy, veto everything, then have a second referendum).
They also said that they want to "provide certainty to EU nationals" in the UK (ie, permanent residency, without requiring the same for British residents of the EU).
They also want to "retain membership [...] of cross-border EU agencies" and preserve the European Arrest Warrant (so that they can drag us in front of an EU court for "hate speech", without us even being in their jurisdiction! Ironically a complete violation of civil liberties).
They also want to continue contributing to funding for EU vanity projects like Horizon 2020 that explicitly only benefit members of the EU.

And this is just what they promise in their manifesto.
http://www.labour.org.uk/index.php/manifesto2017/brexit

Hard Brexit my arse. Labour want a very soft Brexit. Not the softest mind you, but still a very soft one.

>>
>>129320666
I'm afraid there won't be a leadership challenge. That would result in going back to where we started. Her authority is still there, just as it was before, only now she has an actual mandate and was voted in.

I wouldn't be surprised if the EU had told her she'd lose an election if she ran and so she did it to prove that Britain DOES want brexit.
>>
>>129320666
The reason there has been no leadership challenge is wants the job right now, May has fucked the party hard. Every smart tory know this government is an unworkable timebomb and wants nothing to do with it.

Tories do stupid things when they think they're wounded, look at how they're actually in talks for a coalition or similar deal with the political wing of a terrorist group right now.

Bear in mind this is after the Ariana Grande bomb and the London and Westminister Bridge attacks, and after all the shit Corbyn got in the press for just talking to Shin Feyn in the 80s.

Are we supposed to belive that terrorists and murderers are OK as long as they're not brown?

All terrorists are dickheads anyone who tries to say that some are ok or "our guys" is soft on terror.

>>129321173
Regardless of whether May gets replaced, I can't see another election being called until at least after Brexit happens. The Tories know they would lose even more seats and possibly end up not even being the largest party.

If the exit polls were bang on, the Tories wouldn't even be able to run a minority government. Sadly, the SDLP lost ALL of their seats, and the Tories ended up with 4 more than the exit poll suggested and that alone has meant we're fucked for another 2-5 years.

Strategically nobody wants to challenge May. Nobody wants to be part of this mess. She'll get Brexit done and leave.

Having an election this year means when Brexit is done they'll have a few years to regroup which is when the leadership challenge will be.

Mays decision to hold the election if she makes it through the next few years will be seen as a good decision as instead of leaving the EU and having an election straight after, they'll be a bit of breathing room to let things settle.

All the Tories bang on about when questioned about all the shit they do is "we need a strong economy" and "muh Brexit". When is this strong economy going to appear then? What does that even mean? Wages have been stagnant for a decade, even going down in the public sector (in real terms of course), whilst the richest individuals and giant corporations see huge profit increases. Yet they won't tax them more so...what's the point of them earning all this extra money if it isn't going to ordinary people and it isn't going into the tax coffers?

The Conservatives' austerity model is a joke and will never do any good for the country, just for their donors and rich friends. Now Brexit is fucked because they couldn't even keep the seats they had despite being 20+ points ahead in the polls when the election was called. Why? Because they offered absolutely nothing to working people except "more of the same, don't worry it'll all work out when the deficit is gone by 2015, err I mean 2018, nope 2020, in fact 2022".

National debt is only a long term problem and is most easily fixed by actually taxing people who are exploiting the current system, and then using that money to build infrastructure and bolster the economy - which is rather easy to do when interest rates are so low. Austerity can get fucked, and so can the media for peddling the narrative that it's necessary.

The reason he did well was the same reason Trump won in America.

The entire smear campaign failed because the leader stayed positive, constantly positive, not one wavering on the positiveness. Trump wanted to "make America great again" Corbyn wanted a "fairer and more equitable society". May wanted to "make the sick and elderly pay more for their healthcare (after paying national insurance their whole lives) and chase foxes with hounds". Who the fuck are you going to vote for if you're on the fence?!

Bad press doesn't mean shit these days, no one is stupid enough to listen to them. The bad press worked in their favour as long as they stayed positive.

The problem with austerity is that government is basically obligated to provide certain services. You can argue that the government shouldn't be spending money on certain things, that's fine. But to stand up in front of anyone and say

> Sorry guys but this economy business is just jolly hard so why don't we be poor for a while.

Isn't good enough. It just amounts to failure. Maybe if people were picking their way through the rubble of a natural disaster or a war they'd tolerate belt tightening but right now it just looks like incompetence.

Amen. It was refreshing to see so many people ridiculing their stock "muh magic money tree" response. Perhaps they should have considered providing costing to their own manifesto...
>>
>>129324260

You literally made a case that earning isn't real.

As for comparing a supermarket and a small store, the supermarket has up to hundreds of people working for it totalling thousands upon thousands of work hours. They have tons of food, thousands of items, and tens of thousands of customers. The small store has what the handful of staff can organise with their 120 work hours. The supermarket earns more money because many people want to shop there and need the large choice. They hand over their money deliberately.

You are trying to tell me that the supermarket CEO is a bad person for building more stores and employing thousands upon thousands of people, and mediating the earnings of all the food companies that sell through his store?

OF course he's doing more than the little guy, objectively. The little guy isn't phoning up architects and dealing with the stress of multi million pound budgets.
