Brit/pol/ has been trying hard to meme this, but the reality is this agreement will collapse within months. The conservatives are nowhere near the DUP on the political spectrum, and they will never introduce any of their right wing policies.

His coalition had something like a 30 seat majority and he had to water down the manifesto. The EU referendum didn't happen in 2010 precisely because his coalition partner was against it so he had to wait until he got an overall majority in 2015.

Even when you add the 10 DUP MPs this time the government only gets a majority of 2. Nothing will ever get done.

His coalition partner did not. Lib dems went from 58 to 8 MPs in 2015. The deputy prime minister (one of those 8 MPs that survived) Nick Clegg lost his seat in the election this week.

The opposition was in tatters. She had been elected leader of the Conservative Party essentially unopposed and wanted to assert her leadership over other Tory MPs by leading them through a successful majority winning slam-dunk election on the pretense of 'strengthening the government's hand for the Brexit negotiations'.

But she fucked up.

She was 20 points ahead in the opinion polls and thought she could exploit the weakness of the Labour party at the time to "get a mandate", crush the opposition party and get a shit ton of seats.

Strategically, a sound political move. However, the execution was incredibly bad. U-turns, shying away from debates where possible, only talking to pre-approved "average voters" and a string of unpopular policies. She had everything to lose.

Meanwhile Corbyn, having been covered in slime by the mainstream meteor for a while, started to make people realise he wasn't as bad as presented. Outside of the IRA connection he was very good this campaign, a strong manifesto and far more likeable.

May's actions were cynically politically self serving, and interestingly enough, just as May was punished for thinking she "deserved" to win, Nicola Sturgeon of the SNP (Scotland's party in government for last 10 years) was heavily punished for thinking she could expect an easy ride and moan about independence constantly.

Hahaha.

She is a massive failure. And Cameron was too. First she brexited and then she weakend her own negotiating position. And had to go into coalition with a partner that does not want a hard brexit.

Corbyn did much more with the IRA though. He visibly protested the arrest of two groups of accused terrorists (which were later found out to have been wrongly convicted), talked to IRA representatives after some bombing they did, protested trials of (later proven) IRA terrorists and attended a remembrance to dead IRA members (copping out saying that he was there to honor all Irish victims of the Troubles)

In some respects, but it was costed to a degree, (Labour overestimated how much they could raise from the 80k + levy according to the IFS) and still contained some widely popular non-gibs policies like Nationalising Rail and ending all current arms sales to the Saudis. The Tory manifesto was just a shitshow because they thought they could get away with it. I mean they didn't even pretend they gave a shit, nor bothered costing it. Simply expected to walk the election.

>>129315320
The IFS went after both manifestos quite strongly yes, but to imply the Labour and Tory ones were equally bad is just quite frankly delusional.

That's probably the reason it works

In Slovenia, not a single party has been able to run a parliament by itself since independence. It's always a coalition of two to three parties, and if a party exits the coalition there's a general election called because there's so much animosity between left and right any opposition in the parliament is destructive as opposed to constructive

I wouldn't be so certain. Remember British working class are nigger-tier and love gibs. Corbynist incarnations of Labour have won many elections after WW2, they could do it again.
>>
>>129314734
she wanted a clear mandate, she was technically unelected, and conservatives had a 20+ lead in the polls, she thought it'd be an easy win to solidify her place and to carry on with the brexit proceedings without people in parliament fucking around as well.

but guess what? before an election you your party should be coming out with policies that will make people vote for you, the conservatives proposed:

bringing back fox hunting
cutting free school meals for kids from poor backgrounds
taking old peoples homes to pay for their dementia treatment

you literally couldnt fucking make it up. these are the policies they actually wanted people to vote for them on, meanwhile labour promising to scrap student fees, put more mony in the nhs, police, housing, support small businesses etc

The only overpriced thing in Britain is housing. And the working class bring it on themselves because whenever new homes (and the roads to support them) are being built poor people get mad as fuck over whatever green plot those are being built on.

Also poor people in Britain are absolutely filled with envy. Try making any significant home improvement in a working class area and see every single one of your neighbours complain to the council because you're destroying the character of the street which is essentially made of Victorian slums.

They could've just as well went with a catchy new slogan:

She was unelectable. Fuck your grandmom! Fuck your ugly kids! And oh yeah! Fuck the fucking animals! -Conservatives, you have no alternatives.

>fox-hunting
A free vote (i.e., all MPs vote how they want) on bringing it back, which was in the 2015 manifesto which they won a majority on.
>cutting lunches
We currently give all kids, even the rich ones, free school lunches. She was going to give free school meals only to kids below a certain income level, and use the spare money to pay for breakfast for poor kids.
>cut old people from medicaid
Never happened. At the moment all old people get a winter fuel allowance: they were going to take it away from the rich ones.
>taking old peoples homes to pay for their dementia treatment
At the moment, you have to sell your home to fund dementia treatment anyway. They were going to reduce the amount you have to pay, and allow people to sell their homes after their death rather than before to pay for it.

This is why they lost: it was a bad manifesto, VERY BADLY communicated.

There are 650 seats in parliament.
To rule properly a party needs at least 326 seats. May got 318 so she doesn't have a majority anymore and needs votes from the DUP to get legislation approved.

She didn't win. No party won, that's why it's called a hung parliament. She got the largest amount of seats from any other party, but that's still under half the total seats, which will make it impossible to govern as every single bill would need to be approved by all Conservatives + all DUP members of parliament.

Yes she is still Prime Minister, but she is powerless at this point and we will probably need another general election soon.

The DUP don't want a hard Brexit..true, but May and half the Tories were remainers anyhow. She was absolutely bullshitting when she stated
>no deal is better than a bad deal
Cameron already got sent back from negotiations with the EU with his tail between his legs and he tried to sell it, as though the EU had capitulated to Tory demands...
>this is how the Tories habitually lie in order to appease their (((banking))) masters.

What will happen now is the DUP and May will attempt a VERY soft Brexit deal. Of course May and the EU will attempt to keep their negotiations out of the view of the public, so little will be known until the whole thing is concluded. When it all wraps up, the Tories will attempt to save face by blaming the DUP and the voting public, for not giving them a majority government.

The best thing can happen now is for everyone who hates the Tories is to shill twatter and fuckbook with negative memes on the DUP's history and force the coalition to fail QUICKLY. We need May out fast and another election in a few months.

That would actually require a strong government because they would need to pass hundreds of very complex bills outlining our new relationship with the EU.

On the government's side, nothing that alters the current Irish border will be approved because the DUP won't back it. And nothing that takes us out of the free market will be approved either because the Scottish conservatives won't like that.

On the opposition side, they need LibDem votes and they will not approve of anything that doesn't contain a requirement for the final deal to go through a second referendum and Labour won't risk it because their leader is quite the Eurosceptic too (albeit for different reasons).

There will be no deal. We will crash out of the EU. Remaining isn't an option either because that would require unanimous approval from all 27 members and would bind us to things like Schengen and the common currency. It will be a slow-motion train wreck.
