If you look at the break down of the vote it was something like:
>Con increased their share of the vote by 6%, but lost 12 seats
>Labour increased their share by 10%, but gained 32 seats
So this whole election was fought in Lab/Con marginals, so the manifesto was probably their biggest misstep, with terrorism coming second, with Brexit third. Really it's impressive they managed to still be the largest party.

Brit here. It's a combination of many things. The Conservatives are not liked by any other party or many people in the country, especially poor people who see their cuts in public spending as an attack on the poor directly. They recently released an abortion of a manifesto. Seriously look it up. Truly fucking awful.

Now Labour, probably thinking they would lose the election by a landslide, promised so many gibs that it would make a nigger say DAAYYYYUM. Their "fully costed" manifesto factored in borrowing 250 billion to fund it.

The UKIP voters up north, unable to resist their thirst and lust for gibs, and likely thinking Brexit was a done deal, switched to Labour.

To be honest I am surprised that the Cons received as many votes/seats as they got. May is almost electable and probably autistic.

Tories only have themselves to blame here, they're supposed to be the right wing party yet they give no fucks about the ISIS situation and the Muslim, child rape games that plague Britain. They run on a platform of taking from the working class to maintain their wealth and status.

Basically you can't pull public funding for anything or it's political suicide. So everyone just keeps embiggening the spending / government and the people rely on that spending (however ineffective or ineffecient)

Also, UKIP died because they told all their supporters to vote tactical Tory and didn't even bother fielding any candidates
