I'm afriad there's no evidence that she was trying to save anyone. I've seen a lot of pedestrians hit by cars (thanks rekt threads). People frequently happen to jump into the path of a vehicle when trying to get away because they are running on pure instinct and the vehicle is moving unpredictably. That isn't to say she wouldn't have tried to protect the boy if she could. But I don't think she had enough time to make a heroic decision.
