No, the MGS is an absolute mess that is full of stuff that 'sounds cool'. Just because some of the shit they flung at a wall stuck doesn't mean it's redpilled. Hell, MGS1 is the only game that isn't absolute trash. Try Deus Ex.

I know now, but back then before I knew what frames even were, all I knew was that this game ran smooth as fuck, especially the Tanker chapter.

MGS2 blew my fucking mind like no other game had done before. Going from MGS1 on the PS1 to MGS2 was the biggest gap in graphics I've ever seen.

No! That is NOT Solid Snake!

Yeah

That part at the end where they talk about 'post truths' and 'bubbled communities' was made in fucking 2001 and here we are in 2017 with exactly what he was describing.

The ending monologue by Snake is also fucking great.

Who wrote MGS2? Kojima? How did he have such a foresight to predict what the internet would do to life in the 2010s? The game came out in 2001. Pretty fucking amazing.
>>
>>129289092
I just wonder how could one person have that kind of foresight for technology and be able to apply it to the context of a video game in fucking 2001 like Kojima did? It's honestly amazing every time I go back to play that game.

Every MGS has been redpilled as hell, so of course it will be. Even Phantom Pain. Main villain is a Hungarian born in the 30s, who had run ins with Nazis growing up, despises the west and wants to covertly destroy it from within. SOUND FAMILIAR?

Now this is just false. As good as the plot was, most of the gameplay innovations like the highly interactive environments are only there in the early game. Halfway through the game it gets really boring in terms of gameplay when you're mostly backtracking and sneaking through samey linear corridors. Purely as a game, it can't be the best ever since MGS3 is better.

that said, i actually like raiden(not as much as snake, but *almost* as much. I'm a gay dude who finds him attractive, so that kinda muddies it. I find all the variants of snake attractive too, but raiden is more my 'type'.)

MGS3 was less political in terms of being prescient but more philosophical in its politics.

It focused much more on the fundamental notion of loyalty and moral goodness.

The Boss gives Snake the Legacy in the hopes that he will keep it OUT of the hands of a nation, who will ultimately and inevitably try to use it to gain dominance for themselves at the cost of others.

The Boss envisions a world where we are not divided emotionally or mentally from each other by arbitrary divisions in the tangible world, like borders or nations.

Her vision is accidentally fulfilled by Solid, rejected by Naked in Peace Walker and intentionally sought after by Venom.

>>
>>129294764
>Also, I remember being totally confused about Rose

I'm still a bit confused about that too. I guess you just have to take it at face value that Raiden did do something when not working in sims, and that was when Rose was sent to intercept him and follow his movements. I'm not sure why he went with her after the end of the game, maybe the Patriots wiped his memories about the conversations he just had with Campbell and Roy?

At the end of MGS1 when we find out Kaz was killed before the Shadow Moses shit even started bummed me out. I loved him in PW and he's been great up to where I've gotten so far in 5, so to just find out he got killed in his house is a bummer.

The AI Rose does.
The only time we see the REAL Rose is at the end. They basically say that the whole time she was on the Codec was fake, but then she turns out to actually be pregnant anyway in MGS4, then again, Raiden didn't know that she had his kid anyway, so I guess she wasn't pregnant after all?

The first Metal Gear game is a ton of fun once you realize it's a PC adventure style game (like those old King's Quest games).

MG2 is ok. I hate the swamp, also I thought that it ruined the gameplay style of the first game. MG2 is heavily referenced in MGS, although at the same time, I imagine that MGS started out as a remake of MG2, it's so similar.

I didn't really see Rose being real as a mind fuck, it made more sense to me that she was real than Raiden had just been duped or manipulated into believing he had a life outside of some cell where he played VR sims all day. He remembered his past as a child soldier, he remembered going through all those VR training sessions. He wasn't being tricked in terms of what he actually did, the problem was the reason he had been doing those things. He thought he was being ordered to save the US from a nuclear strike, but his entire mission was based on lies and misinformation.

What I don't get is why he went with Rose after everything he learned and even what she said to him up until that point.

I didn't turn off the game but I did seriously get paranoid for a bit. How did he know?
This game definitely was the catalyst for me questioning everything though. I was 18, 9/11 happened and the shit was completely plausible. I loved MGS1 but MGS2 made me a fan.

Yup. It's a shame most /pol/acks were in diapers when this came out. I remember playing it when I was about13 and it got me interested in existentialism. Good entry point for Nietsczche. Which led me to the ultimate redpill of Dostoyevsky and Kierkegaard.

This game is still too far ahead of its time. The gameplay hasn't aged well but holy shit this is the closest vidya has come to art

I wrote a college paper on memes back in like 2005 on Dawkins for an evolution class after playing MGS2. I also did a paper on MGS2 for an ethics and technology class. Funny enough, I lost it in a hd crash.

I've played through this game a bunch of times, but I am always amazed by the new, tiny, minute details I find
