You have to understand that power acquired is lost by future generations.

The strength and skill required to get a large fortune or accrue a great deal of power is not transferred to subsequent generations. The people that had to gather it learn through trial and experience and error how to continue and keep such strength and power. There are things learned through experience that cannot be well transferred through text or reading, and have to be inculcated through mentorship training.

Modern wealthy people, after maybe 2 or 3 generations, forget this lesson. The only reason that they are able to continue is because they have a support structure developed through generational investment, but that only takes them so far. Skill, experience, ambition, and cunning do far more than thousands of pounds of gold sitting in the earth.

The disconnect that has occurred now is because the rich no longer have a great deal of practical experience in the foundational skills that allowed them to obtain such vast wealth and resources, or have forgotten them.

Its like a bunch of people arguing about how great their attic is when the walls are crumbling and the foundation is rotten.
