Quick history lesson, Nothern Ireland has a majority Protestant population, while there is a Catholic minority. The two religious sects have been segregated and separated for ages, feuding violence and fighting with the other. The Protestants had all sorts of guerilla teams on their side (Ulster Defence Force, Ulster Defence Army etc) and the Catholics had the Irish Republican Army.

Essentially Catholics want a United Ireland, Protestants want to stay with the U.K and have the Monarchy.

The fighting got so bad that the British Army had to get involved. Bombings happened everywhere, lots of people killed until eventually a Peace Treaty was formed, so obviously political wings were established.

The DUP being the political wing of the Protestants and Sinn Fein being the Political wing of the Catholics.

This is a very very simplified version of events of a massive complex issue that goes through history.

She truly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
Her party won't shut up about minor things like old age care funding, fox hunting etc.

In essence, Scotland saved the tories / May. Ruth Davidson put in a good campaign and took away seats from the Scottish National Party (SNP). If that hadn't happened, they'd be finished.

Corbyn played his deck of cards well. I mean extremely well. I'm a Tory but his manifesto was a beauty. Not really affordable, or entirely realistic, but the good bits were really good.

Our electoral system and the number size of seats skews things towards Labour anyway.
Imho the Tories need to push through the boundary change legislation asap to have a hope in hell of staying in beyond this term.

The left seems to want to try and do whats best for the people whereas the right, seem to be all about profit, yet they are for profit for their own pockets rather than profit for the Country.

It's shown in history that right wing parties seem to be more likely to run deficits than left wing parties.

From personal experience, I've been to hospital for two operations in my lifetime and it hasn't costed me a penny and allowed me to not have crushing debt, same goes for education, would not be in my dream job if I wasn't able to go to Uni for free.

I vote Sinn Fein here and wasn't upset to see the Tories forced in to this coalition. I agreed with SF ghost MP policy because NI has pitiful representation in westminster. Absenteeism was a more powerful tool than the power available in taking those seats. Now that the DUP are in the spotlight Theresa May can no longer pretend NI doesn't exist, plus the spotlight is not going to do the DUP any favours at all.

One of the unique things about the politics here is that campaign donations don't have to be declared. This was enacted during the troubles to allow anonymous donations from people fearing reprisal attacks and remains in place today. Just last year pre-referendum the DUP recieved the largest single donation in Irish political history, and bought a pro Brexit ad in the London metro. It eventually came out the money was from Saudi Arabia. Now that they wield political relevance all kinds of people are going to try and buy them.
