Right now, there is no proof that Trump is recording all of his conversations. If he releases any tapes, then all other tapes will be able to be subpoenaed which isn't ideal.

Writing the details of a meeting is actually pretty standard affair nowadays.

If you have a strong suspicion you're going to get unfairly fucked over or defamed, having a written record of each incident leading up to the fuckery is very useful.
