>At a glance
Apparently Theresa May has no intention of resigning - working to form a govt based on being largest party in seats and votes, meaning some people will be tricked into thinking they are getting a hard brexit while still getting 300k+ migration per year
DUP already outlining a soft brexit as part of the terms for propping up an enfeebled Tory party
SNP getting blown the fuck out
Exit poll proving to be correct so far
Nigel Farage will probably go back into politics.
Conservatives might just about win it.
Conservatives are just as bad as Labour

>Why did it happen?
The number of UKIP voters going to Labour was underestimated.
They ran a very insincere campaign.
U-turns on social issues undermined her authority.
People fell victim to the soft brexit meme.
Manifesto negatively impacted Tory voting core.

Labour going from 30% 2 years ago to 40% today is fucking based. Especially considering everybody thought Corbyn would get destroyed.

He didn't win, but he has utterly fucked Theresa May, made her job impossible, and spend the entire Brexit negotiations laughing as the Conservatives tear themselves apart.

The Cons need to appease their extreme right wing but also need have to rely on limp wristed liberal Tories like Nicky Morgan and Anna Soubry to vote for her Brexit deal. SAD!

But this only matters if you have a majority, because when all MPs vote the only thing that matters is having /2+1 seats. If you have that then you win every time. Labour doesn't have that. The Tories+DUP will.

What new powers does he now have?

>Are you so retarded to think that the Government is practically a dictatorship that solely legislates and is the executive?

Uh, the government is the one that introduces legislation and timetables it. The government is able to do that by virtue of having a majority in parliament. They're one and the same in our PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY.

And what do you mean by "is the executive", do you know what "executive" means in this context?

No one expect Labour to win, but they expected the Cons to at least hold or gain more seats in Parliament, instead they lost seats.

The results in raw votes is 42% Cons / 40% Lab. So all those seats they have is really just a symptom of the FPTP system.

It shows that rightism is losing grown in the UK and leftism is gaining traction, even if it didn't win this election.

The Cons have weakened their negotiating hand in brexit with this, they will face harsher opposition in parliament and see less bills from their manifesto come to pass because of the strengthened parliamentary opposition. And Corbyn will have a little more legislative power of his own even if not PM.

Backbenchers rebel all the time, that's an issue with the conservative numbers, not labour's numbers. Labour having more members does not somehow make backbench rebellions of the conservative party easier. The conservatives having less seats does, but that's not the same thing.

The PM is the person who can get their Queen's Speech voted through the commons.

How doesn't matter, the Queen is obliged to appoint the person who can achieve that. If nobody can, then we get a new election

That's my point -- it takes only a small number of rebel Tories to veto legislation.

Look at John Major's government -- started with a small majority, eventually ended up in minority because they kept losing by-elections. If that happens again, even the CON/DUP coalition could fall short of 326.

The only papers that matter (sun and daily mail) have been trashing Corbyn for months. Face it, "mummy" was the weakest candidate and almost lost to a self admitted Trotskyist. I'm honestly happy with this result. It's a gigantic middle finger to politicians and their ilk. >Members of the government introduce bills not as members of the government, but as their secondary role as a memeber of parliament, the legislator.

I don't even know what this means. The government is made up of members of parliament, but the government operates within parliament through the whips office and leader of the house of commons. These are offices and privileges that are afforded to the majority party, ie. the government. They are not institutionally separate things.

>What has happened here is that Labour has increased their legislative power and reduced the Tories allowing them far more ability than they had to block or alter legislation before it become an act

You are right on the latter, but not the former. In denying the tories seats they have reduced them in power, but Labour gaining seats makes no substantive difference. For example, the Labour gains from the SNP did not mean any damage to the tories as those votes were fungible.

>lowing them far more ability than they had to block or alter legislation before it become an act

This only happens when there is a backbench rebellion, something that is contingent on the actions of tory backbenchers. Labour numbers are irrelevant on this issue.

> If you don't even know what the basic principles of separation of power are

The "separation of powers" is an American concept that does not exist in the UK. Our legislative and executive functions are fused whereas the judiciary is independent, but all three are subject to parliamentary supremacy.

You literally have zero clue what you are talking about.

>The conception of theseparation of powershas been applied to the United Kingdom and the nature of itsexecutive(UK government,Scottish Government,Welsh GovernmentandNorthern Ireland Executive),judicial(England and Wales,ScotlandandNorthern Ireland) andlegislative(UK Parliament,Scottish Parliament,National Assembly for WalesandNorthern Ireland Assembly) functions.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_powers_in_the_United_Kingdom

>The UK is one of the most peculiar states in the world. It is one of those few states which do not have a written constitution. Due to the absence of a formal written constitution, it is possible to claim that there is no formal separation of powers in the UK. However, one should not presume that it does not exist. They do exist, but in a weak form because they overlap and work together.
https://www.lawteacher.net/free-law-essays/administrative-law/separation-of-powers-in-the-uk-administrative-law-essay.php

>The justice system is one of the three branches of the state. The other two branches are the executive, or the government, and the legislature, which is the two Houses of Parliament. In most democracies these three branches of the state are separate from each other. They have roles and functions that are defined within written constitutions, preventing the concentration of power in any one branch and enabling each branch to serve as a check on the other two branches. This is known as separation of powers.
