Comey explictly stated that Trump was never under investigation. I think it was Rubio that asked a very good question about how so much information leaked out but not that when it was the most widely known, secret fact. But Comey implied many things and upon further questioning he stated that his interpretation of his talks with trump was that Trump was trying to persuade him to avoid the investigation.

The entire investigation is not about Trump. What you're doing here is pulling a Slate.com where you strawman then say "OH NO THIS IS FAKE NEWS". The Trump admission is under investigation for ties to Russia. What we now know is that Trump isn't the target, but other individuals, particularly Flynn.

Just stop and get out of your bubble and think for a second, would you be this defensive if Obama was going through the same thing? If Obama had close members of his cabinet that had been implicated in ties to the Muslim brotherhood, would you be this defensive and partisan?
