Would joining the Navy be a good idea?
>military experience
>maritime experience

What would be a good MOS for the navy btw?

The united states built the best navy the world has ever fucking seen during WW2, they manned their ships with the hardest of men and the branch was run by some of the bravest men to ever walk this earth

now it is invested with niggers and sheboons. You have to be braindead or disabled to not get in, it is super fucking easy. Join a real branch, dont join the navy, it is not what it used to be even 20 years ago

>women want to navy

AF Faggot here, living near Norfolk.

Don't join the Navy if you're white.
Aircraft Carriers and the Navy in generals has major gang issues.

If you're white, either go Marines or Air Force.
Air Force will set you up with a better job placement afterwards, you live in better conditions and eat better food. You still get experience overseas, and for the most part are treated like an adult.

>>
>>129119480
I'm an Corpsman, so enlisted medical. I don't work on a ship. The required Asvab for this rate is 50. And I have a 92 so I'm overqualified. Maybe if u pick a job that suits you you will be ok.

>>129120519
Ooooh, a boomer fag. I was wondering why you were saying the submarine Navy was so laid back. I was like, wtf, I worked my ass off on a submarine.

On fast attacks we don't have two crews per boat so we don't get literally 180 days of vacation time per year while another crew takes the boat out to sea, like you faggots do. Also, when we do go out to sea, it's to actually do something, not to do 3-dimensional figure-8's in the middle of the ocean for 3 months straight just in case there's nuclear war.
>>
>>129121501
Same here, I'd go right back to tanks even though there's nothing "light" on a tank.
Fucking shit up with an M1-series is just too goddamn cool and worth the bullshit you go through 99% of the time.
Like taking an MPAT anti-air/truck round and putting the prox sensor on "AIR" and firing it at ground troops.
After it's arming timer goes off it senses the ground and explodes, turning it into a modern-day beehive round that just sends troops straight to hell.

We did PT 5 days a week, 0600-0700 - push-ups, sit-ups, run for ten miles.

If you're going to go enlisted Navy don't plan on doing anything that's going to set you up directly career-wise on the back side. Do your time with something you can hopefully enjoy, and take advantage of the GI Bill on the backside. Aircrew seems like it would be the way to go. Helo or P-3. P-3 officers are dildos typically but at least the deployments are hardly deployments and you can crosscountry around. Helos are way more chill but shorter legs on them for cocking about and you will end up on a boat.

You can either be in the hard red states like South Dakota or Texas. Or be in the libtard shit like Cali, Washington. It all depends, but if you go IT, you can literally get stationed anywhere there is a networking operating support squadron.

Yeah you'll make much more in private sector up front, but you don't join the military for the money, you join for the benefits. Healthcare, BAH, BAS, discounts on a lot of shit and you can travel on Hops all around the world for a pocket change.
>>
>>129125266
>Tbqh one of my major hangups with joining the AF, is that I might have to live in a libshit state.

Odds are against it since BRAC rounds consolidated most AF basin in red states. If smart, try to get stationed in Europe, Japan or Korea early on. The US is boring by comparison unless you hide in your dorm and do nothing.

The Navy has the largest population of faggots. Literal faggots. When you hear of jokes about why names of sailors are sewn of the back of their pants, or buttpirate jokes, or "seaman" jokes, there's a reason for that. The women that signs up are usually ugly, and fat. Lots of niggers and sheboons with horrible hygiene. If they were ever decent before, they will turn fat and ugly after one year. You may have to stay in your boat for one year, and you know what they say about sailors and loneliness.
>They'd fuck/get fucked by anything and anyone
Did I mention the niggers with terrible hygiene? When you're in the bowels of a boat, with little ventilation, and it's fucking hot, and you're surrounded by niggers, you'll understand. Even if it was ventilated, bad breath and halitosis.

In the pozzed meter, they're about the same with the Chair Force, with their inclusion and diversity bullshit. Go join the Army or the Marines. Probably the Army, because you won't have a future when you get out of the Marines outside of being a bodyguard, a security guard, a PMC, or something that involves killing or getting killed.
>>
>>129125952
Aside from essentially donating my time in service of my country, the other benefit I see is just not being "one upped" in life.

Dafuq? Take a retirement pay table and also run the numbers on your other deferred earned compensation over your expected lifetime post-retirement. By retirement time you'll likely have some compensable disability to top that off. You don't get shit for that in civilian life.

Between active duty and retirement I haven't felt a recession. My civilian peers often had their 401Ks evaporate when the banksters blew up the economy.

Do what my bro did after he retired from the Air Force and go for a Federal civilian career in IT. War is highly network-centric and I don't fucking mean email. Aircraft have their own networks, data links to other birds and ground stations, etc.

There's no penalty for "double dipping" Federal and military retirements so you can do two careers and lead a VERY comfy life. It's quite common. Become wise in the ways of the military-industrial-corporate complex that is the real America. It's a very, very nice world and the main entry to it is military. Your human network in the military can be a huge asset over a lifetime.

4chan doesn't get many career retirees and instead tends toward the young and disgruntled who have no or very short term career perspectives. I stumbled upon /k/ then /pol/ and like it the unmoderated discussion.

I have never met an AF retiree who regretted staying in for the duration. Many choose education as a second career because tech training is fun. Dat retirement check is genuine "fuck you" money so we use it to do what we want.

In all seriousness I knew what I was signing up for and thought the challenge makes it valuable. Surviving a challenging program with pretty good financial reward and the stress of a fast attack sub? This program makes men out of nerds. Or maybe just cynical zombies. Either way, I'm gonna get some tours under my belt and be pretty rich afterward. The drop outs are people who didn't know what they were getting into, immature, or brainlets.
>>
>>129135488
The military makes men out of nerds and then turns them into sociopaths with non-stop deployments.

>>
>>129134659
Your friend is in for some of the shittiest moments of his life. Life as a submariner is already strenuous and bleak. Work 12 hours, 6 hours off, work 12 hours, 6 off, work 12 hours, 6 hours off, and it goes for months and months without end in a red lit coffin. No outside communication either.

As a Sub Nuke though... fuck I would personally not be able to handle it and may just end it by blowing my brains out in the armory
>>
>>129134659
After basic, you spend 8-9 months in accelerated training. Then 6 on an old nuke boat tied to a pier - you do not get to go anywhere during this time.

You get deployed, guess what? You're on a sub or a carrier. If sub, you don't get to see sunlight until your tour is up. And all those ports of call that the carriers go to where everybody gets off and boozes it up and whores around? Yeah, you don't do that, you're on reactor watch or training, in fact no matter where you go, you're doing training during any of your 'free' time. You get almost zero shoretime no matter what ship you're on.

Oh, well I only have to rough it for my term of service and then I'm guaranteed big bux in the civilian market, just like my recruiter said! Yeah, you can work at.. All those nuclear power plants being built in the US - while simultaneously competing with every other person that got tricked into going Nuke and every college grad.

Never believe your recruiter, they get upwards of a 250% bonus for signing people up for the nuke program because it has a minuscule reenlistment rate.

>>129135488
You poor, poor soul.
>>
>>129135488
Better than a carrier, everyone on the ship hated nukes because they thought they were down in the plant dicking off and not doing anything. But the rest of the ship is fucking retarded and believed that potable water and steam were brought on by barrels doing RAS. Yes, fucking steam. They actually believed that steam was brought by barrel onto the ship. The nukes played a prank on the airdales by going into their berthing and rolling marbles painted with glowstick juice and started yelling "everyone out everyone get the fuck out it's a neutron spill". Scared ass skittles scrambling away from glowing orbs rolling around on the deck.
>>

>>
>>129136490
Oh, you're almost guaranteed to reach warrant officer at a minimum before you're out when it comes to nukes. They've been going out of their way to try and keep people. My tank crew hated me, thought I was getting out of cleaning the tank.
Fuck them and the beers they drank that night while I didn't have one for another two weeks.

No. They honestly believed that nukes were down there just raking in cash being nerdy and sitting on their asses. I was a conventional that worked in Reactor, but I was on a carrier. So I don't know how things work on a sub. Smaller crew, so I'd imagine that everyone knows everyone. On a carrier, the crew was so large I didn't know anyone outside of Reactor, I barely knew everyone INSIDE Reactor. I mainly hung out with all the MMs. Nuke MMs and conventional MMs stuck together, there really wasn't any sense of elitism. We did the same job, they just went to extra school, so they got paid more. I just worked in the plant with them which was shitty enough. Some of the weaker guys, both nuke and conventional would spaz out and try to figure out any way they could to get out. One nuke e5 was taking his food tray to drop off, and saw an admiral doing a tour or something, and decided to drop his tray right there on the deck, collapse to his knees and hug this admiral around the legs saying he loved him. Never saw that guy again kek.

Sounds as if, like so much else in this country today, standards have been lowered to the point that certain people who should have been weeded out are now given a pass. Our problem in the '80's was the overly booksmart ones who didn't know which end of a screwdriver to use.

Met some of the people in the navies nuke training they hated it and wouldn't stop complaining... it they were giant pussies so take it or leave it

A lot of those guys that wash out, end up going "koo-koo for coco puffs"
I worked with a couple 'ex-nukes' on my last boat.
One dude was former EM(n), who lost his clearance after getting shitfaced, and they bounced him to the "normal navy"
This guy had weird facial ticks, always made step back from him.

With one caveat that my grandad passed along to me when he heard I was going to Germany.
"Don't fuck any American girls over there. They're worn out."
Keep it in your pants and don't give them any "he raped/harassed me" ammo.

>Would joining the Navy be a good idea?

It's the smartest choice among the branches in the current climate. It's the only branch right now that's actually doing their job in mass.

>military experience

Not really

>maritime experience

yes

>What would be a good MOS for the navy btw?

Doesn't matter they'll put you where they want you to be.

Above all avoid submarines.

Pretty true I'll have 10% for my lungs and I'm getting a test for sleep apnea soon which is like another 30-50% which I'll get unless they can just take out my tonsils or some shit. Not to mention my right knee and lower back and probably my neck from that time I flew up 2 feet and hit the ceiling of the vehicle I was in. (With helmet on)

Never go nuke. My goodness the stress, the food being crap. I heard one anon say he gets anal prolapse whenever he takes a poo in loo nowadays. He blames it on the food. But he said that nukes have a terrible and moreover miserable job. God bless the nukes, but I've heard too many complaints. Though the pay isn't bad.

Join the Navy if you are looking for these things...

>job experience that goes into the real world
>fantastic travelling'
>school

Do not join the Navy if you are...

>looking to be boots on ground hard ass (unless you see SEALs which you will fail out of more than likely)
>want to stay in one spot
>don't like the ocean

I don't know it's all pretty basic shit once you learn most of it. I myself got to come live in Japan and that's exactly where I wanted to be. So not everything is bad but not everything is good. I was able to core one of the top five best rates in the Navy which is LS (logistics specialist)
>>
>>129165938
Oh also to add to my post, the Navy is anything but red pilled. The amount of liberals and lack of physical standards and overall people of the Navy is terrible. The amount of tasteless and unprofessional people in the Navy is incredible. Mostly O-3 and above and retired personnel still working for DoD are the red pilled/class people. My generation of Navy persons is disgusting. The moment I see them out of NDUB's makes me fucking mad. When you see these people it's the entire reason us lower ranks have bullshit rules.
>>
What are the chances of becoming a jet pilot, or a pilot at all in the Air Force? Is it worth it?
>>
>>129115344

It is the LEAST redpilled of all of the US's armed forces. Join the Coast Guard instead, they're the unsung heroes of the branches.
>>
>>129167054
Incredibly slim, 1% of the entire AF are pilots and and an even smaller percentage are fighter pilots. Even then, fighter pilots are required to have a STEM degree from a prestigious school.
